Are there important foes (ie elpuri) that are not gas-immune? It would be fun to kill the mighty dark frog with a single sleeping gas grenade and an amulet of magic breath.
Way too easy for IVAN. There is a reason why important enemies are immune to gas.

Fun fact: you can tame the black market's guards. Since they're neutral by default, it's a great way of getting a master necromancer companion, or a strong golem without sacrificing an item.

I saw that in wizmode. I was going to check so see if there was a way to get the monsters surrounded by the cages as well but havent had time.

As a directionless noob in this game, I want to understand the game plans of some more seasoned veterans. Once you guys get to the GCs, what are some things that you always do/things you look out for? As of now, I have not yet reached the bottom of the GCs, and nearly all of past deaths have been from random ass golems made from strong materials one shotting me.
Additionally, I happened upon not one, but two scrolls of body switch. From what I gleaned, it seems to be pretty damn powerful, but I'm not sure what I should morph into, if at all right now. Any insights towards how to maximize the scroll's potential would be much appreciated.

I might not be the best to answer this because I tend to die often too, but...

* Don't try to kill everything. Run from anything scary, or teleport/web it with a wand and then run away.
* Don't try to melee everything. Zap wands at dangerous monsters. Also zap wands at annoying monsters (sirens...)
* Always have a wand of teleportation ready in your inventory. It will save your life when you get cornered or critted.
* Always stash additional wands into a chest, or they will explode in your face.
* Don't stay in a fight if any of your body parts becomes bright red. Run/teleport away and heal, then return to finish the job. It's better to "waste" some healing/teleportation than to die.
* Golems are tough, but don't see invisible. Use your wands of invisibility. They are also slow. Use run command, then hit them once, move away and wait until they step next to you, rinse and repeat. With enough Agi, they won't even get a hit in.
* Sometimes it's better to just teleport past Enner and leave him be. Also ghosts are immune to Enner screams, so you could polymorph into one.
* Zombie level is much easier with invisibility.
* Mystic dark frogs must be killed as fast as possible, just teleport to them and zap them.
* Never ever let Elpuri to touch you.

The scroll uses the same check as a scroll of taming, so you can possess same creatures that you could tame. That means uniques are immune, but otherwise with higher Cha you can become nearly anything.

If you get it early, you might want to possess something with high Int, so that it's easier to harden/change materials and so that you can train your Int higher. Otherwise all mistresses make good bodies, because they have high stats, but are not that hard to tame.

Don't possess animals. They can't read and some can't even open doors.

Tip: If you get multiple conical friendly mommo slimes and you don't want them destroying the level, then just aggro one of them. They will fight forever, because they are all immune to acid.

Something very strange happened. So, I was just going through UT3 as usual, looted the level and was getting ready for the big fight, then I went into the boss chamber, and there was nobody in there. All plants surrounding the Genetrix were dead, also there was a corpse of a kobold, and a zombie. And the Genetrix herself had gone missing. This was not a bone file. I decided to wait outside the chamber a bit, to see if she still spawned plants. She did, so I figured that she is still somewhere on the level and went back into the chamber to leave. And she was there! She wasn't invisible, I was standing on the tiles she was on before she appeared there. I have no clue how any of these creatures died, or what even happened there, but it is interesting.

Hm, that looks like the result of Jenny eating a mushroom. When she's confused she'll sometimes attack her own plants (BTW, you can throw alcohol at her to cause that) and she could get teleportitis, which would explain her moving around.

I would have to test that, but I think you can also throw her a spider corpse or somesuch, and she'll happily poison herself.

Huh, I thought plants were immune to poison and acid?

I didn't think plants used nutrition, maybe that's changed... 0.o

I guess they are carnivorous after all.

It's been there all along, but because they can't move and only eat stuff on their square, you'll rarely get a chance to see it.

They're resistant, not outright immune. I just checked and they will take some poison damage, but you'd probably need to feed Jenny a lot of spiders.

What are good ways of opening meteoric steel chests?

So uh the crafting system. How 'bout that?

I tried looking for the wiki page about it, but got nothing. Is it even in the game or is it still in the works?

wand of poly, make sure to put 4 other items on top of it (and 4 other stacks of 5 behind it) so you dont waste the charge.

It's in game, but stability is questionable (I've experienced crashes while using it). I've also had trouble with forging metal items, the spark "explosions" seem to destroy the anvil...

Is there actually a legitimate way to open the chests?

They take a hexagonal/octagonal key IIRC. Is there any way to get that key?

Alternatively is it actually possible to have strong enough legs + boots to break the locks?

I suppose if you had some steel legs and boots of kicking, you could probably kick them open. As for the keys, IIRC they are carried by powerful named baddies like Izzy.

In my experience, you don't actually need a very big amount of LSTR in order to open the chests.

Not sure about you, but all my experiences with chests are that they are either empty, locked with a key that I can never find or broken. And in some cases, you don't really get anything good out of em. I'm sure it's just a bad case of RNG on my part but I normally skip chests allot...

Edit: Also I think kicking em also effects all items in the chests too...

If you go to the bottom of Attnamese Catacombs, you might find someone carrying a hexagonal/octagonal key, too.
