I personally have a background in sound design for visual media and would be happy to help with audio or music if there’s a need.
Well, IVAN's sound and music system is wonky at best, so any input is greatly appreciated!
I think we have some PR's over on GitHub that might even pile up to a new release, but there is unfortunately no one around with the time to review and prepare it all, it seems. Myself included, as I now spend my evenings reading fairy tales to my daughter rather than dying in IVAN.

When you open the crafting menu, it should give you all the options. You can craft some potions, all mundane equipment (which is very nice if you can get you hands on magical materials - break down a moonsilver chest and forge a moonsilver armour or swords), walls, furniture, ... Fair warning, though, crafting is still kinda work in progress.

do you need to have both equipped for it to work?
It only checks the boot with which you kick, so technically no, but I don't know if the leg you use for kicking is deterministic or random.
And yes, the boots are on the weaker side. Maybe they could be enhanced to allow a 2-square teleportation by kicking at empty air?

When you kick a creature, you exchange places with them. They can help in escaping from being surrounded.

I don't think you can craft a wand. You are just a banana gatherer, after all. 
But try looking in the black market, it usually has a wand of cloning or at least mirroring.

Artificial limbs gifted by gods. It is rather easy to safely remove your limbs with a bear trap and most gods will quickly give you a cool limb. Even if you don't like the material, you can sever it again and sell your limbs for cash.
Also eating spiders for an Endurance boost. At the start of the game, I will sometimes eat the first spider I kill and retreat to the world map until the poison subsides and I heal back up to full. This will usually result in +1 END. With enough food to counteract the vomiting, you can keep doing this and boost your HP significantly.

Not really, but what might maybe help is dev console in the newer versions. There is a command that attempts to fix the duplicate player/no player bug. If some of your saves can be loaded, you could try running that.

Maybe one day I will have the time to port all of these great changes to vanilla. Maybe.
