Also, please don't doublepost.

Also, carrying gunpowder is a terrible idea, regardless.

The only good way to use gunpowder is as part of an explosion, and then you need to have either mines or a wand of fireballs to make it work, as well as a unique/really well armed/armored foe for the boom damage to not be wasted. Otherwise, really not worth the equivalent of putting a giant "blow me to pieces" sign on.

Oh my god. I was playing LIVAN, it was my best character yet, and I had a dual steel swords each +1, soon to be meteoric, the archangel of Loricratus, a Meteoric steel golem, Mithril chainmail, iron helmet +4, belt of carrying +1, black leather boots of kicking, gauntlets of dexterity +1, and lots of other good stuff. Then, while I was doing the library trick, I accidentally kicked a scroll at a hunter, who arrived at that spot JUST at the right moment. I got mobbed and died...

Library trick? :3
I managed to get to the Dark Level for the first time, I was carrying five amulets of life saving. I decided to open a door only to be met with a huge horde of orcs, I was surrounded and couldn't keep up with them leaving me only enough time to put on another amulet. My character was brought back to life again and again only to die seconds later by thousands of brutal and vicious orcs.

Great Christ, where did you get FIVE amulets?
Proudly bringing disaster and mental scarring to Attnam since '05!

I bet he cloned them up.

Pakhawaj: Library trick = step on the bookstore's doorway (the first place you can get the welcome message) and sell off any scrolls/books you're carrying, buy scrolls/books until you can afford no more, drop them on top of the stuff you had then move one tile up and kick the loot out of the shop. If you hit any roving citizens, you're probably boned and definitely are boned out of Attnam as a safe haven + the easiest win. Otherwise, rinse and repeat until you have all of Haathbar's stock and gold.

While this might not be my most horrible death, at least it was the most hilarious one in a good while.

CG7, Lots of undead orcs, just orcs, necros and Golgor-Dan. I got me some serious wounds, so I applayed (broke) my last wand of tele and teleported myself to the secret room to heal up. There were some mines inside (as usual, 3 big ones), but i've got levitation belt so I didn't mind them. By wierd luck an orc standing next to me while I was breaking the wand got teleported also next to me. It would be okay, but he triggered a mine and that explosion have killed me.

That's hilarious, I'm going to try that now!
Also, I found every single one. I don't know how to use those wands of cloning or mirroring properly so I just sell them off. <.<

Pssssh. Wands of cloning, mirroring, and polymorph are simple (after a fashion).

Step 1: Lay down the items you want to clone, mirror, or polymorph. For cloning and mirroring, you can get up to 5 items cloned/mirrored, and for polymorphing you can get up to 25 items polymorphed if you lay them down in a straight line, 5 per tile, over 5 tiles. Note: If you have more than 5 items in a tile you use one of these wands on, you'll only clone/mirror/polymorph the top 5.

Polymorphing example: @*****. (@ = player, * = batch of 5 items, . = floor)

Step 2: Stand next to the batch of items or on either end of the line you created, then zap the wand in the direction of the items/item line.

Step 3: Reap the rewards. Note: when picking up from a stack you used a wand of mirroring on, you'll see (for example) a second stack of 5 scrolls underneath the first 5 rather than a stack of 10 scrolls - the top stack is the original 5 scrolls, and the bottom stack is made up of the mirrored copies; this is important because the mirrored copies have a limited shelf life and you really don't want to use up the wrong scrolls when mirroring things!

Also: in the event you wish to clone/mirror yourself, you can lay items down on your square and reap the benefits of hitting them as well as yourself, but you count as one of the 5 items, meaning that you will only wind up with 4 clones/mirrored copies of whatever items are on your square.

The best way of mirroring stuff is to zap self while holding two items we want to mirror plus 4 on the ground under char's feet and then take copies from mirror image dude. This way it is possible to mirror up to 6 things for each shot instead of 5.

I was in the minefield, minding my business. There was a cat around, setting off mines and stuff. So, to ensure my safety, I decided to dump dangerous stuff out of my inventory. For example, bottle of sulphuric acid. Mellis had gifted it to me, but it spilling all over me would have been really bad situation.
So I pressed D, selected sulphuric acid and got rid of it.

Final score was 5002.

Pretty much you're done at that point. All of the acid ends up on (in) your head and chest (mostly your head I think), and your head has so few HP that it'll just melt away regardless of your acid resistance. AoLS won't help you here either. And it will last quite a while, too.

I'm going to run a quick wizmode test and see if I can survive an acidic cocktail...

EDIT: After several tests it seems that even with a +15 cloak and two rings, a 10 end character will still run the risk of dying from consuming the acid. My torso got as far as red. My head took virtually no damage owing to the resistances; I believe less damage is applied to the head per tick from the acid.

Agreed, in one of my better games I used up all of my potions (and I was a fervent Mellis follower), but managed!

I hardly ever use my healing potions, I feel it's a "waste" and end up with several stashes of 20+ scattered around different levels. I'm guessing at least 1/2 of my really good character deaths could've been avoided if I'd just taken some potions.

Yeah they really pile up. Don't be too stingy with those, just about all of my deaths have been caused by one-hit-kills becuase I remembered to use em.
