IVAN 0.56 is out now! Check out the new icon for mac and windows.

I'm sure I missed a few things on the release description. Anyone have a good summary of changes?

In build news: Windows builds are being done with mxe again. Jeepers homebrew was slow today... mac builds seem to download a lot of "cruft" before they get going.

EDIT: Ooh, new page!

Have you been playing with a different resolution previously?

I guess you played the mac app instead of the dev build? The user data for IVAN.app is loaded from "$HOME/Library/Application Support/IVAN". I will update the installation instruction.

Sorry should've been more clear. On Mac it kept my settings from before. On Windows the resolution changed... I'll check at home to give more details

You know what.... ignore that. I just forgot how freaking tiny the 1x graphics are

I usually do 640x480 at 2x scale, but 800x600 at 1x seems like the graphics are so much smaller. Made my eyes hurt

How we put up with such tiny graphics before, I do not know. At least now with the upscaling we can play IVAN long into old age!

I do seem to be experiencing an issue with v0.56

one example is using the go/fastwlk move you know to head down a long tunnel quickly enough unless something is in the way to stop you.
it seems and feels like the game doesn't move unless i press something then the game moves a few steps freezing once again.
if i move the mouse around the screen area while going it'll move as i'd expect.... i kinda suspect it has something to do with that mouse input option for the menus but even disabling it in the options and relaunching doesn't have much of an effect.
.
any action like resting, crafting or going seems to have this effect.
.
edit: and its odd because i guess it seems to only happen when i start playing the game for a bit. heck i hope its not this pc im on. heh
edit once again: seems going out of focus of the game clicking off it and then going back fixes this issue im having. O.o

I seem to remember having this issue as well. I don't recall if/how I fixed it, but one suggestion might be turning off numlock? Bugs like this crop up in other games here and there, and are sometimes are somehow connected to numlock. No promises :S

magically its gone...maybe it was numlock. thanks.
finally got a respectable distance into the game. a milestone for me was defeating the Enner Beast.
i don't know whoever said it but i remember a long long time ago someone said wand of striking is your best bet.
randomly teleported around using 3 different wands of teleport until i caught sight of him lined up pow. pow. down he went. felt so good i sat there and created a huge pool of blood from resting.
.
then got swarmed by zombies, skeletons, sirens, blink dogs in the next level
until a Kamikaze Dwarf fixed that. ^^ the explosion destroyed my teleport wands.....then my polymorph wand.
landing me next to the Guugzamesh the goblin king....as a zombie. my. head. went.flying.
.
I'd like to thank and praise God Cruentus for enchanting my beast claws and dropping me dozens of trolls bloods....

Haha awesome! That's pretty impressive. I've beaten the game a few times but lately I've only had one game make it past the Enners in the last few months

Here's another tip if you're interested

SPOILER ALERT. Click here to see text.
instead of teleporting randomly you can detect enner flesh to see where he is

Actually in the new GC, he's always on the right of the map since he's separated by a river.

Man, I haven't even seen the Enner in years.

Probably because I don't play very often, I tend to run a half-dozen games every time there's a new release, but life is busy right now so I don't have a lot of time for IVAN...

So the Windows "go slow" bug could be related to the numlock state eh? Thanks for the tip Izzy, I'll have to take a closer look at that when I get a chance.

When do we want to publish a new version? There were quite a few fixes, so we could put out a version that would run smoother for players.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the fix to the anvil, so that it doesn't keep exploding into smithereens before I can craft a single weapon. Also, that poison extraction always results in crashing.

After finding a rogue semicolon in the item datafile in a newly minted IVAN build, a half-hour game of whack-a- ensued, with me trying to delete the correct remote tag. Got it working with a bit of git bodging. Boy am I glad that I checked the zip file the first time around!! Note to self to build locally and try running the game before pushing the build tag for the production run

IVAN 0.57 is out. I'd better go eat a banana...

Fantastic! Thanks for keeping the changelog up to date too, that helps a lot when preparing the release text.
