It seems that 3D IVAN helps you distinguish things better, considering the shading it gives the items. Not to mention, the sound effects help kill the quiet factor that can sometimes get to your head (Even if your playing Music, or not).

What are your opinions on it?

I reckon it's brilliant

I've an idea to add all other variants to it. Just because playing in 3D is cool. I'll get to it in time. Eventually.

I play it out of habit now, because it feels so strange playing without everything having a black outline.

Thanks! I am going to post a updated 3D version when our Imperialist allows up to upload. Nothing big, just a minor improvement in handling sounds (a more versatile format for the sound configuration file) and repacking with valdemar spawning rate and missing DLLs fixed. It would be useful if somebody created a better sound pack for it.

One improvement I realy wish for is that IVAN would read key set from a text file. and why is this? pls read http://ivan.greatboard.com/viewtopic.php?t=1739

I could start working on that, music and sounds are my area.

Done. You can now download the new version (nothing special, just fixing the valdemar spawning rate, some changes in the sound system, and configurable keys), and read about it on the Wiki. BTW the files are ordered in a weird way on the download page. And I forgot to specify platform.

I suggest you to download the newest version (10). (This package contains all you need, you don't need any original IVAN.) Note that it is based on CVS, so it contains some things which were implemented by the devs after 0.50.

I downloaded version 10 for CVS but it's saying I need pcre.dll
I downloaded that file separately and it works, but just a heads up, you'll probably have to include that in the future too.
Also I the Valdemar spawning is still really high

3D is awesome though! It'll take some getting used to, but good job on you for making it

Okay, I changed the valdemar spawning rate in my source, but not in the package, sorry. The new version (11) fixes it. Also added the pcre.dll file.

I do not mind, and I even should not. But there are some signs that the official IVAN development will continue.

Which means Mod development must slow down... I think...

Do you have the most recent source?

(yet another mod not following the GPL!)

Ahh, it's a patch for IVAN CVS? I thought you just only had the latest few patches to your own source up.

Yeah, maybe it's not clear, but it's a diff between the official CVS (the version which was most recent at the time, I think it is still the most recent) and IVAN 3D v10.
