Spoiler Warning: This page contains spoilers which may affect your IVAN experience negatively

A wand is basically a small thin stick made of wood, metal or something solid, which may be carved or sometimes ornate. They are provided with a random number of charges, which can be replenished with a scroll of charging.

All wands in IVAN contain some sort of magic, and you can [z]ap them to invoke the power. And, when a wand is broken by some external force, it releases its raw power around it, which can be very dangerous. You must have at least one usable hand to zap them.

You can also intentionally break wands by [a]pplying them. Applying the wand does not require any charge.

Types of Wands

Acid Rain

This wand made from sulfur, has two to five charges, creates a shower of acid rain, and is attached to Scabies.

Cloning

This wand made from ruby, has one to three charges, duplicates the thing shot at, and is attached to Infuscor. Only the five first items in a pile are duplicated. Cloning the player does not clone his inventory.

Door Creation

This wand made from oak, has three to six charges, creates doors in the shot direction, and is attached to Loricatus.

Fireballs

This wand made from bronze, has one to four charges, travels in a line in the direction 'zapped,' creates a dangerous explosion when it hits something, and is attached to Infuscor.

Haste

This wand made from tin, has three to six charges, speeds the character up, and is attached to Cleptia.

Invisibility

This wand made from glass, has three to six charges, turns the character invisible, and is attached to Cleptia.

Lightning

This wand made from gold, has two to five charges, shoots out a lightning bolt, and is attached to Infuscor. Lightning bolts travel in a straight line and have a tendency to both destroy walls and ricochet off of them. Be careful to always use geometry when firing a wand of lightning!

Mirroring

This wand made from sapphire, has one to three charges, (mostly) creates a temporary clone of the target, and is attached to Infuscor. Note that while mirrored items are temporary, their effects are not; a mirrored healing potion or scroll works just as well as the original.

Necromancy

This wand made from bone, has two to five charges, turns any dead humanoid into a zombie, and is attached to Infuscor.

Polymorph

This wand made from octiron, has two to five charges, polymorphs the thing shot at, and is attached to Scabies. Note that the polymorph effect is temporary when used on creatures, and permanent when used on items. A wand of polymorph can be used to transmute a god's alter into a random different alter without damaging your relations with that god.

Resurrection

This wand made from Phoenix Feather, has one to three charges, resurrects the character shot at, and is attached to Seges. It can also be used to restore the player's limbs, or to resurrect the player, if it breaks in the same instant he dies.

Slow

This wand made from granite, has three to six charges, slows the character down, and is attached to Infuscor.

Striking

This wand made from iron, has two to five charges, hits the enemy with a charge of mystical energy, and is attached to Infuscor.

Teleportation

This wand made from silver, has three to six charges, teleports the thing shot at, and is attached to Sophos.
