Ah well, it's time to clean the "little details" topic out of random tips, so post them here.

Never underestimate uncategorized weapons.

Today I have witnessed something weird, and I'm not sure if anyone encountered this before. I was playing IVANT, I lost a leg and an arm, I drank from a fountain and got a bunch of friendly spiders and a friendly dark drog, and it's probably that I was in bad condition.

Anyway, I prayed to Valpurus, the only god I knew, after reading his holy book for maybe twice before it dissappeared. Needless to say, my alignment with him was pretty low. I was expecting him to smite me.

Instead, he gave me a valpurium arm.

(this have me AStr of 100+ and also caused the danger level to skyrocket, think kamikaze dwarves in UT)

I did some tests in wizard mode later with detached limbs and praying to Valpurus, both in IVAN 0.50 and IVANT, and I was unable to reproduce the effect. I got pounded every damn time I prayed with alignment below 1000.

But, in any case, my little tip goes: If all else fail and you miss a limb, try praying to Valpurus.

That's weird. I wonder if the friendly dark frog had anything to do with it? Maybe if you take a frog as your pet Valpurus will like you better

I didn't check the source, but I suppose that for each god there is a chance that he will give you a limb rather than do his usual effect. Better materials are harder to get, but you have a small chance of getting Valpurium or GEF when praying to Valpurus, rather than having the usual effect, which is something bad (unless you are a Champion).

Holy shit. I wonder how much a valpurium arm would sell for?

Not really, but if you find more tips, post them here. If you find any details, post them to little details.

Saal'thul is one of the few weapons in the game that are unbreakable and thus can be safely dipped in acid.

According to the script files 2/3 of the time Saal'thul will be found broken.

So just what exactly is breaking all of these unbreakable weapons?

Guide to Hedgehogs

Hedgehogs are exagerated as the most dangerous creature in the game and though they do have rather powerful abilities that can kill an unlucky adventurer instantly they can easily be delt with.

Edit: Deleted 1 and 2

3) Equip ANYTHING: Don't be choosy... even a 1 armor or even 0 is better then nothing.

4) Don't let them recover: When a hedgehog is bleeding and runs away, hunt down and kill them.

Other then that treat them like every other enemy... Traps work and making them slip into webs are all excellent.

I especially agree with 3 - equip ANYTHING. Even a soft pair of shoes and gloves will stop you from losing your limbs. This is true x1000 by the time you get to the pack of wolves.

I kind of disagree with the first two though. I always kill the dog right at the beginning for a nice meal, some end training, and because he eats good stuff, Wielding heavy weapons isn't a bad idea because you can get some nice astr.
Wait, let me get this straight... you hit the button? OH SHI-

Saal thul is not unbreakable! It can be safely dipped in acid becasue it is mithril

Any arcanite/mithril/octiron/illithium/valpurium/crystal/ruby/saphhire/diamond weapon can be safely dipped in acid (as can many other materials not commonly found as non-whip weapons).

I have to say it is annoying how much misinformation is posted as "tips"

Hmm. I just did a quick check -- This may well be true, though whether or not Slob knows this through experience or through the same method as I do I don't know. Myself, I opened the script files. The material default configuration gives all materials the variable InteractionFlags = CAN_DISSOLVE. Some materials (mithril, for example) have a line (InteractionFlags = &~CAN_DISSOLVE) which I'm assuming removes this flag. Give me a moment and I'll compile a full list of materials immune to acid:

Valpurium
Mithril
Gold
Diamond
Silver
Sapphire
Ruby
Golden Eagle Feather
Dragon Hide
Arcanite
Illithium
Octiron
all Light Crystals
Frog, Elpuri, and Daemon Flesh

That's because of the other glow.

Also, a valpurium left arm, with 10 CHA, will sell for 3000 gold at Attnam.

Actually, and valpurium arm would sell for 313 500 gp, but shopkeepers only have 3000 gp money.

Holy shit, 313500?
Lampshade actually made Valpurium green in LIVAN, not sure why. Maybe to make it look different from gold / all the other yellow materials.

My little tip - don't save healing potions / troll blood. I always save them for later, thinking I'll need them more badly. WRONG. You will find plenty more later. I always end up with a surplus. I can't tell you how many times I've died because I was too stubborn to just drink a potion. Just recently I had a dark red torso, fleeing from a golem. Instead of just healing, I tried to run. Bumped into a black unicorn and was killed.

I never have time to drink the potions. They take so much time to chug down that by the time I've finished drinking enough to heal me, I'm dead.

i really hate that, i used to save all my potions and i thought that i would use them, but i ended up dieing with 10+ potions that could help me, so i just started drinking the potions like crazy but then a few turns later i would need them desperately.
