Literally every time when I went to GC1, I died because one of those stupid mustard gas mines. 60% of my highscore list died to mustard gas traps. Am I the only one who has been destroyed by these traps so often?

I’ve only been hit by one and it didn’t seem to do much damage. I don’t recall what armor I had. I’ll try to pay attention next time

Just don't stay in the gas and they should be much more manageable than mines, and those also start in GC 1. I always fear going into GC when I can't find a source of fire resistance, because then you'll very quickly end blown up.

Mustard gas is easily survivable once you've got a couple more levels of endurance and just spam rest until it goes away. Even if you don't, it's not a waste to drink half a health potion or troll blood. After all, what use are they to you if you're dead?
Regular mines are much more dangerous and used to be the #1 cause of instant death for new players in GC. For this reason I don't like to go into GC without at least one fire resistance item, and failing that at least a ring of searching or some beefy armor.

Searching will help for all kinds of traps, though it slows the game down a bunch if you have to try it manually. Just mash the search key a few times every step to be sure there's no mines nearby.
System would indicate in graphic if person is mounted on horse or not.
Same system also show if person mounted on boar, elephant, polar bear etc.
Or if person mounted on ass.
Ivan find mounting on ass funny.

Thanks for your advice's everybody. I usually pray to Silva to destroy traps with her earthquake so I don't have much experience with traps.

Be careful that this has a good chance to destroy some items on the level, so you might be depriving yourself of some loot.

I definitely don't like that the gas traps seem to go off more than once. Shouldn't triggering it once make the trap disappear? Or at least make it visible to the player so that they know not to go over that same spot again

That sounds nasty, I haven't played recently so I haven't been able to test any new features out. These traps should really trigger once, to be consistent with landmines.

They can be triggered more than once, because they are not exploding but just releasing gas when stepped on. However, they will be discovered when triggered, so you won't randomly trigger them again and again. They also have a high chance of breaking whenever triggered and can be disarmed by picking them up or kicking them from adjacent square.

What do you mean by "they will be discovered"? I didn't see anything visible on the spot where the trap was.

I think it was in GC - maybe they are visible in TX but with the coloration of the floor in GC they're difficult to see? That was one thing I noticed with my skeleton puppies, they're easy to see in the catacombs but nearly invisible in TX.

I dunno about you guys, but whenever I get exposed to mustard gas, it's a game-ender because even acid resistance doesn't affect it.

I don't dare set foot in GC until I get a belt of levitation. If I can't get it before hand, I'll only briefly scout the first level or two searching before practically every step. Mustard gas is also a critical emergency at any time, the very first turn available should be used to teleport away.

I think you need poison resistance / gas immunity not acid resistance

I cursed when the god didn't heal me. I'm sure I will have an 80% chance to Rest In Pain if I just keep healing myself in place.

I checked and mustard gas damage doesn't seem to be affected by either one of them...
I think that it is a different damage type

Well whatever damage type it is, it makes absolutely no sense given that it acts like an acid. It even lists it as i.e. "The mustard gas dissolves a bit of your torso".
