I always check the bones folder after I die to see if the deceased left a bones for me to find. I was looking in the folder today and noticed i have a bones file from 2008, I would like to see who can find the oldest bones file on their computer.

Booooooooooo!

I've wiped my PC so many times, and rarely bothered to save my bones files. The oldest I can find is 2011. (By all rights I ought to have some from 2005...)

Not so, Izzy. If you find an old bones, but then that character also leaves a bones, that will generate a new bones file. So even if your original bones was from 2005, if you've found it with a later character from, say, 2010, the time-stamp on the file would be 2010.

Going by that my oldest is from 2009.

I have some question about bones... I've died so many times I'm starting to find the ghosts and corpses of more than one hero wannabe in the same dungeon floor. So here are the questions:

1-Do all heroes leave a bones file when they die or is it just random?

2-If a bone file is loaded, does it get deleted later when the hero that got it dies?

3-If question 2 is yes and the current hero dies outside of a dungeon then all the stuff is gone, amirite?

Also, it seems not everything is saved in a bones files. I found Miller, which died in a magic mushroom infestation but the floor was missing the tons of hostile magic mushroom and corpses. Maybe the monsters were too high lvl for the underwater tunnel so they got deleted to avoid unfairness?

Actually no- I have memories of one specific kobold with what I think was an ommel bone two-handed/bastard sword killing two or three adventurers.

1. Bones files are not guaranteed.

2. Is answered just two posts above yours.

3. Bones files are not generated outside dungeons, so yes, it's all gone.

4. That sounds like there was some data corruption, that shouldn't happen.

Thanks for the replies!

Ever since I noticed you could encounter your previous characters, I always make them carry loot around instead of keeping the gold, since it can't be recovered otherwise.
