its called "Kill elpuri and return to attnam without dying" not very original.

I was inspiried by the surge of new interest so i fired up a new char. found a whip of thievery in ut1 (yay!) got to attnam, my lamp was magic, wished for a helm of brilliance. robbed the library, got myself in good with the lawful gods so i could get atavus armor, then read all my chao books to try to get in with the chao gods (my preferred pantheon). I wasnt paying attention though, because i had like 5 school foods, i should have done the seges thing and tried to get some more end while i was still lawful. kind of have myself in a bind because i was only able to get my self to neutral, and now none of th gods like me. cleared gc 1 and 2 (minefield was on 2), made short work of the wolves on 3. that was on thursday, havent had a chance to play since. I should have some time tonight, i want to clear out down to gc4, get the sumo belt, and then decide what to do. any advice?

some notes:
- fighting with 2 light weapons is really the way to go. I seem to have the most sucess with this tactic. the idea of cleaving your enemies in twain with a heavily enchanted mjolak is always super tempting, but it only seems to end in my own death every time.any thoughts?
-merka's shop had 2 turoxes and a vermis in it! no guantlets of dex yet, only guantelts of str. seeing as how i am training dex pretty quickly with my whip, would i be better of with the str guantlets? will Astr help with dual wielded whips in any way?

Well to be honest I'm one of the people here with the least Ivan expertise, but as for the images: Go to an image upload site (I use img.ie), upload the images, and copy the (direct) link they will give you, then place it between img tags like this:
[img]www.site.com/image.jpg[/img]
Alternatively, if you have dropbox, put them in your dropbox/public folder (or a subfolder). Then right click - copy public link and past that link between image tags.
You can also attach images directly to the post but I don't like taking server space away from cap

To get the chaotic alignment, the next best thing after books is to find altars and offer sacrifices for items they would like. This can get you there pretty quickly.

Thanks Eagle The space/bandwidth is actually incredibly cheap... I have several dozen GB of photos stored between my various websites and it's only about $3 per month. The main downside with attachments is you can't add them inline with text... yet

So, the "win IVAN" challenge huh?
Alright, I've never managed it before but I suppose I'll give it a shot.
System would indicate in graphic if person is mounted on horse or not.
Same system also show if person mounted on boar, elephant, polar bear etc.
Or if person mounted on ass.

I just completed this challenge a few days ago, but unfortunately I've never been able to just accept a freedom victory and call it a game. I've brought Elpuri's head to Attnam prolly a dozen times and dropped it, returning to the dungeon for greater glory and invariably losing everything. This time I even got 55 Int and a full valpurium/GEF set and even killed Sherry, only to stupidly die to a kamikaze dwarf because I left my wands out of my box (while invisible no less.) I've still never won 0.50
I did learn a little about the gods though. After getting armor from Atavus, I successfully went evil enough to get Neerc Seulb by eating several human corpses, going on to become good again with mass lantern sacrifices to Legifer

off topic, could a headless zombie pick up and equip the head of elpuri? or can they only attach human appendeges?

I think the only non-human zombie heads I've seen were dwarves

Elpuri's head doesn't count, but I've seen zombies attach dwarf, kobold, orc, mistress, mage and guard heads.

Cleared out to GC4, am about to try enner. cleared UT4 and the minefield. good gear haul. no /oCloning or /oPolymorph. Annoying. Im kind of suprised given my gear set and stats that rondol or guggy havent showed up yet. I would like to see rondol and get the /oPoly, because i have a chest from a hidden room i cant open right now. Finally got nefas and cleptia not mad at me through mass sacraficing. there has been a real dearth of spellbooks and alters in this game.

Nice game

I don't think you can clone ommel fluids though. At least not the bottles? Maybe the cerumen

Also I don't think wearing 2 rings of fire resistance helps anymore than wearing 1, somebody correct me if I'm wrong

Good point about eating corpses. Is there related behavior that you can do to gradually become more lawful?

you can clone them, you cant mirror them.

Im pretty sure 2 tings is better than one. I waswearing them while in the minefield to be safe-er. I usually swap one out for a ring of TC

I'm inclined to agree. A second ring of fire resistance can be the difference between being killed by a landmine in GC1 or surviving with very little HP, in my experience.

Of course enchanting up a cloak of fire resistance is even better, if you aren't wearing any other sort of special cloak. Helps to free up ring slots for, say, telecontrol rings and the like.

Usually when I find myself in a bad situation, I just try to hack my way out of it and end up dying. You'd think after beating the game several times I'd know to keep cool when bad things happen, but nope. I have tactics for dealing with expected bad situations, but the unexpected ones always get me, especially early in the game when I feel like "oh well I can just start over"

I was in GC2, had a decent character who had been really lucky so far. Helm of Understanding, decent equipment, permanent telecontrol from blink dogs, horn of bravery. The only thing he was missing was boots

Ran into a nasty orc who must have had an enchanted weapon. With no boots, my legs were quickly dismembered, but I kept hacking away as usual and found myself with only 1 arm, panicked, orc, mutant bunny, and blink dog all surrounding me.

This time I realized I should actually try to figure a way out of this. I broke my wand of teleport, and since I had telecontrol, stayed where I was knowing that the other guys would disappear. Then blew the horn of bravery. I had no healing liquids... tried rubbing my lamp which i had been saving just in case, but unfortunately no genie. Prayed to Legifer and Atavus and got 2 limbs but was still missing a leg (and the other was made of glass). I tried running for the staircase but by then the bad guys had caught up again. I polymorphed the bunny... into a mistress. Oops. Then the wand was out of charges, so I broke it. I transformed into a werewolf, orc I think was unaffected. But as a werewolf I was able to escape. Unfortunately just as I was reaching the other staircase I met a real werewolf, who finshed me off.

It was a good learning experience though I've never gone to such desperate lengths to save a character this early in the game before.

Elpuri will be easy with that gear.

Also, because I just can't take a normal victory, here's a kill screenshot of my latest Elpuri kill (the shoutbox character):

Yes the armor is a huge mess atm, still waiting on those few missing wisdom points for the dolphins to jump straight to valpurium.

Definitely, the only way he should be able to actually do damage is crits. Of course, as always, haste and slow before fighting just in case.

That would be because you can't wish for a specific item unless it is the only one of its kind.
What you really ended up doing was wishing for a can filled with a random substance.
