Yes, they are blue in color. That's how I distinguished which fountain message grants perma, after all ;d
Well I assume that a bolt has a given, numeric, amouunt of perwer. (assi in enegri)... unless it's LAERSER SKISKLS POEWN PEWN!

Not a single item, but I just found this chest in GC1 (it wasn't a bones file, and was a regular playthrough, not wizard mode)...

EDIT: Spoke too soon, I suppose. All of the items, including the chest, disappeared over the next few minutes of play.

They... disappeared? But that would mean there was either a teleporting mage on your level or they were mirrored, wouldn't it?

Some chests are spawned as mirrors. If the loot is extraordinary, suspect it.

I had no idea that could happen. I thought something bizarre like a monster zapping a wand of mirror had happened or something.

Yeah, seems like this. I've never seen it before today, though.

Too bad, I wanted that stuff.

Me neither! I've found a flaming valpurium long sword +10 that was a mirror, but damn, a whole chest full of goodies is cruel!

Not if you can use it in time. Especially if you come across one when you're fighting a named monster.
System would indicate in graphic if person is mounted on horse or not.
Same system also show if person mounted on boar, elephant, polar bear etc.
Or if person mounted on ass.
Ivan find mounting on ass funny.

They aren't blue if you get them from eating a lot of mushrooms or drinking lots of fountain water though.

Not immediately. Basically (if I remember this correctly), 65535 is the threshold for a permanent state. If a fountain or mushroom (or anything else) bumps you above that threshold, the stat still stays white until, over time, the value drops back down to 65535. It then stops, the game recognizes it as a permanent state, and the name goes blue.

Monsters don't touch wands. If I'm carrying a buttload of wands and I need to lighten my load, I drop all but the essential wands first (unless I come across an extra chest to stash 'em in). It's an unnecessary risk.

Well, as I said I had no idea mirror equipment could spawn. Seriously never found anything like that in my IVAN experience (so when equipment disappearing was mentioned I was like "what??" ).

A hattifattener could have zapped and broken a wand of mirroring... Or a mine or dwarf exploding on one. All while a nice chest was nearby. And it could also asplode a tele wand and port one chest away.

That's almost equally unlikely - and no, I scoured the level for anything else (wondering if there was a dark mage or something teleporting my stuff away - I've had a chameleon turn into one before!). The items just disappeared, and there were no other copies.

Aside from which I don't believe lightning will break objects on the ground -- much as acid rain won't melt things laying on the ground.

Mirror chests are rare. You are more likely to find a hidden chest in which some of its contents are mirrors.

In LIVAN, I just found the holy banana of Oily Orpiv in UT2. I could tell there was something from ages away because of the very intense light that it gives off
EDIT: I also just found a helmet of attractivity +5 and Aegis in GC1 =)

Until I checked I didn't realize just *how* bad attractivity was compared to other helmets. Strangeish as you'd think it being special it would at least beat a full bronze helmet in AV value, but a +5 helmet of attractivity just sitting in the dungeon would still be rather handy in the early game as it has the same AV as a full steel helmet.

EDIT: It also hardens to diamond, which for a +5 attractivity helmet would make 27 AV (beats the full adamantine helmet by 1 AV). Unless you find a scroll of change material first, you'll want to keep that helmet.

E2: No, you can't harden understanding or perception helmets. Brilliance hardens to octiron and gets 20+(enchantment value) AV.

Good point. I was thinking of deals in the shops, but I forgot about the requirement for Decos.

Helm of Attractivity = made of gold
Helm of Piercing Perception = made of illithium (?)
Helm of Understanding = made of unicorn horn (?)

I can't recall exactly actually. One of the two (perception / understanding) is unicorn horn, but I actually forget what the other is made of.
