Problem: this website is the #1 search result for "attnam"
But for "iter vehemens ad necem" it still hasn't shown up by page 4.
It seems like people are much more likely to search for the latter
Any suggestions for boosting the ranking?

Use "Iter Vehemens Ad Necem" more?

EDIT: Now there is a link to here on page 3.

Holy shit. I actually didn't think it'd be this effective.

Guess this is why I'm the Grand Visor...

The link to the wiki is the ~34th result when searching through google.pl.

Frankly, I think it'd be more useful to make us show up higher for I V A N itself, rather than the Latin. How many people do you really think are going to remember how to spell the Latin?

Edit: I really was hoping that was shoutbox-only. :sigh:

I believe it's time for plan B.

The first page of results are all game review sites, we ought to go give 'em our link.

Don't worry BDR I'm going to change it. It was sort of just a joke but I was also curious if it would have any effect.

btw, typing it not using all caps bypasses it as well.

The problem with using "Ivan" is that there are just so many different Ivans aside from the game. Of course, the official website does show up as result #2, but the rest of the results are all referring to people / companies. Maybe "Ivan rpg" or "Ivan roguelike" would be terms we should aim for

Oh and by the way, you may notice some links look like this:
http://www.attnam.com/viewtopic.php?t=732

While others look like this:
http://www.attnam.com/topics/732/google-search

As you can imagine, the latter will definitely be more helpful with search engines. I just need to go through and make sure all the links are consistent.

Maybe there are too many keywords in headers, which makes each of them less important? Just an idea, I don't know how exactly headers help search engines... But I think some of these keywords are not useful.

You might consider converting the ancient IVAN website into a huge signpost pointing viewers towards these forums. God knows who has the power to do that now.

Oh, and if the name of this website was www.Itervehemensadnecem.com it would likely be the first result on a google search for "Iter Vehemens ad Necem".
System would indicate in graphic if person is mounted on horse or not.
Same system also show if person mounted on boar, elephant, polar bear etc.
Or if person mounted on ass.
Ivan find mounting on ass funny.

There should be a link from the wiki to the forum, or the main page. I also see that www.attnam.com in general has a very low page rank, placing links to it in various places would help. Is it really impossible to get Hexii or Holybanana to add just this small link on the official website? I have no idea for other places.

EDIT: OK, there is a link from the wiki to the forum, but it is hard to see.

I added a more prominent link to the wiki.
It would definitely be really helpful if we had the link added to sourceforge.

Our page rank is 1/10. Isn't that a measure of how popular the website is across the entire internet? For something devoted to just one RPG, I don't know if we can expect any better than that.

http://www.adom.de/ is also devoted to one roguelike RPG and has pagerank of 5. Of course we are less popular than ADOM, but I suspect our pagerank should be something like 3.

Pagerank is somehow related to the structure of the links in Internet, meaning that if good sites link to us, we are also good. A sourceforge link would be definitely helpful.

Pagerank depends on two things: how many links link to us, and the pagerank of those that link to us. Saying IVAN a lot won't help that much, exchanging links with other sites will.

I see. There are quite a few gaming websites linking to ours though... I checked their pageranks and they're all in the 3-5 range. These are just the most recent that visitors have come from, but there have been more in the past.

My other website is much bigger than this one and has many links from high page-rank sites (several with 6-8), yet also has a pagerank of 1/10
