The Gloomy Caves are a vast underground multilevel area, the largest world in the game. There are a few different quests you can complete while in this area, the first being the task to slay Elpuri and deliver his head to Petrus in Attnam.

* Dwarven Minefield - a large room filled with covered mines and many items. No creatures spawn in this room, although they may wander in and set off a chain reaction of explosions. It is very important to walk carefully through this room, and use some sort of trap-detection or fire-resistance.

As all gods, he may also grow you a new limb made of an aligned material, give you an aligned item, or when very pleased give you a temporary pet angel.
* Werewolf Lair - A small room shaped like a fat plus sign, which contains a werewolf and a dozen deadly wolves. These wolves have a very accurate attack so it is important to have protection on your limbs before attempting to defeat them. This particular werewolf always carries a scroll of enchant armor and a scroll of enchant weapon.

* Merka's Shop - Merka is a shopkeeper in Gloomy Caves. He and the monsters have a mutual agreement not to attack one another. You may buy or sell items from him, but beware that you do not accidentally kick his door down.

* Chest Rooms - There are a couple large easily accessible square shaped rooms with smaller inner rooms. The inner room has walls of meteoric steel and a large chest in the center with one or two special items. There are no doorways leading to the inner room so you will have to find some other way to get in.

* Secret Rooms - In addition to the chest rooms, there may be one or two small secret rooms. These are similar to the inner chest rooms in that they have meteoric steel walls and a large treasure chest in the center. However, they are also lined with traps and are hidden so you will have to detect them somehow.

Vladimir is the giant carnivorous mutant bunny, but unlike his spawn he is friendly. They will assist you in fighting enemies on GC8, and if you can tame them, even further.

* GC9 - Finally, GC9 is the home of Elpuri, the Master dark frog. There are also several other dark frogs, including a mystical. If you can defeat Elpuri, you have the option of either taking his head to Petrus and ending the game.

Mellis is the god of money, trade, and politics. His alignment is N-, chaotic neutral.

Praying

When pleased, Mellis will

 • replace up to 5 empty bottles and cans with full ones, or

 • give you some money (with the amount dependant on your Wisdom).

As all gods, he may also grow you a new limb made of an aligned material, give you an aligned item, or when very pleased give you a temporary pet angel.

There are no guaranteed locations for altars to Mellis. However, he is the patron of shopkeepers and they are usually fund carrying his holy book.

Strategy

Mellis is one of the best (if not the best) gods in the game, as his prayer can result in a variety of powerful, permanent boons. Aside from free food and healing, he will sometimes give you ommel excretions, boosting your attributes. The money he gives you is also nothing to scoff at, especially early in the game.

Aligned Items

or any item made of an aligned material. See the List of materials for more details.
