Stealing from the library

While messing around in wizmode, I discovered a new trick today. I tested this in regular game too, so it's sure to work. Using either acid rain or vomit to dissolve the walls and bookcases of the library, you can safely kick out the items from the library and pick them up for free. In normal shops kicking the goods would be vandalism, but for some reason this is not so in the library. This could probably be used to leech the library dry of gold by selling back their own wares and stealing them again.

I'm pretty sure this behaviour wasn't intended by the devs.

What doesn't kill you can still dismember you.

I did a little test and - you don't even need a wand of acid rain. Just drop your wares at the door and you'll sell them, then kick them out.

Nice find! More tempting exploits to newbs...

Ah, you are correct! I was initially under the assumption that this is impossible due to not being able to align yourself correctly to kick wares out of the shop without destroying walls first, but I didn't take in account that the door tile counts as shop too! This makes it pretty much a cakewalk to get all the stuff from the library and 2000 gold every game for free.

What doesn't kill you can still dismember you.

Wow, nice find! I was trying to figure out a way to steal stuff from the Cathedral just for kicks and failed. I guess I should have looked at the library.....

Obviously, this would be considered a cheat, not as bad as SOCM a large chest into ommel cerumen though.

Thank you for this wonderful trick, but on my first try of using it, one of the scrolls that I had been kicking out and re-buying hit one of the villagers outside of the library from the force of the kick. Instantly, the alarm sounded and the town guard were all over my ass. I died rather quickly which kinda pissed me off.
last time I checked, accidentally hitting someone with a thrown piece of paper wasn't assault.

I got myself killed because I tried a bottle of sulpheric acid, and something about it pissed them off
