Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster. I've been reading these boards more and more lately, so I decided to finally register. There are some hilarious threads here (esp. The Sims) and interesting discussions about IVAN. It's one of my favorite games; I've played it hundreds of times, but I've never beat it! ><

Anyways, a few weeks ago I downloaded IVAN 3D and though it was pretty swank, but after a while I wanted more sounds than just the twelve or so example sounds that it came with. So I did a little searching and a little typing and came up with my own sound pack for the game.

It's not complete by any means, but I thought I'd post it somewhere so you guys would have a oppurtonity to try it out and tell me what you thought. Is there a website you could suggest for posting the file that is most convenient? So far it clocks in at just over 2 MB.

Listen to me prattle on. It's awesome to finally be a part of this forum!

You know what'd be great is if the game played sounds when you were near monsters. Quietly the further away they were, but a little louder and more clearly with higher perception.

Ok, I've uploaded the zip file of my sound collection under the IVAN 3D downloads section; the file name is Soundpack. Just replace the sound folder in IVAN 3D with the one from the .zip/.rar file and it should work just fine. (I'm not sure why it added a one onto the end rar filename, anyone know why? You should still be able to open it, or at least change the file name... )

Let me know which sounds you like, ones that could use improving, and ones that you reallllly hate. Also, please let me know if you have ideas for sounds or if there are events that you would really like to hear a sound for. Include the message that appears when that event happens to help speed things along.

List of things to add/improve:

Sound effects for all magic effects (i.e. wands)
Effects for more mundane actions (i.e. mining,)
Many deliciously mocking sounds for when you die
Effects for very special game events, like winning
Unique death sounds for as many monsters as possible

P.S. I'm looking for sound packs that might enhance the game, anyone have suggestions? Looks like a double post on the downloads, sorry. If someone could remove the Sound.rar-1 file for me that would be great, I don't know how.

Great, at last someone creates a sound pack I did not play with it yet.

I see that your config lists "elpurideath.wav", but I don't see this file.

The system also supports adding music (which can depend on current location).

No idea for sound packs, you could try to use sounds from other free games (but I think it is not always OK to do without authors' permission), or from sites called "free sound effects" or something like that.
