Many enemies spawning with heavily disenchanted gear?

In my latest run I've noticed a very large number of enemies spawning with gear in the negatives, usually between -3 and -5. Did the game decide to take mercy on me for once, or is this just some sort of bug (.50 btw)?

EDIT: I guess it was just playing with me. As I entered GC6 I found myself surrounded by a mistress whip champion, Golghor Dahn, and Ur-Khan, who quickly killed me.

That happens pretty frequently. I can't remember exactly, I think it's if you enter a new level and the game considers you to be really weak for that level. I'm sure the experts will chime in

Wait wait wait.
You are saying IVAN actually has the capacity to make the game easier for you?!

My life is a lie.
System would indicate in graphic if person is mounted on horse or not.
Same system also show if person mounted on boar, elephant, polar bear etc.
Or if person mounted on ass.
Ivan find mounting on ass funny.

It's got nothing to do with being weak, I would say. It's also not restricted to levels when entering them, I went through GC1 normally at first, then returning after some while found some newly generated negatively enchanted NPCs.

I've no clue what causes it, a bug of some sort I suppose? All I really know is that it's surprisingly frequent.

I'd say there's nothing new under the sun.

I've seen this a few times.....mostly with those goblins that throw potions at you....

I guess its when a tough enemy spawns and is considered tough for your player at your level and so there equipment is "leveled" so they don't behead the human in one fowl swoop

Whisper in my head......"a weapon with negative damage?! ....what the bloody hell will that do??...Heal me!?......Heh....it might!."

I encountered an enemy with a negative damage weapon, so I started holding down period to see what would happen, and I did in fact take miniscule damage.
