Some from the old forum:

Kick bear traps to disable them harmlessly (does NOT work with mines )

Wait with the 's'earch command when enemies are approaching. This takes less time than hitting '.' so that you always get the first hit in a fight

With those meteoric steel chests, if you don't have strong enough legs to break the locks, you can use a wand of striking. (Just hope there are no bottles in it or they will shatter)

You can also SoCM them into, say, beef, and then eat them. (The chests that is. Not so effective for mine disabling.)

It's not as rare as you'd think. I've seen several myself. Question is, does a chest within a chest grant additional protection for items within?

Yo Dawg, I've heard You like chests, so I've put a chest inside your chest so you can protect stuff while protecting stuff. But seriously, I just tested it and it seems that storing box in box can help protecting agains wand of fireballs or mines, but not from kicking and throwing.

Strongboxes are my personal favourite when it comes to security and peace of mind
System would indicate in graphic if person is mounted on horse or not.
Same system also show if person mounted on boar, elephant, polar bear etc.
Or if person mounted on ass.
Ivan find mounting on ass funny.

I think Elpuri and/or the mystic dark frogs can explode stuff even when it's in a chest.

Took one box/chest of each type and size and placed a granade in each one and then put box to small chest, this two to normal chest and contained that inside large. After that I went for some mine-stomping, added a little wandzapping followed by chest-kicking and box-throwing. After each mine/spell/kick I've been checking how many granades there are left in the chest matryoshka.

Nicely done Zulox.

And yes, Elpuri can blow up things inside chests. Haathbar warns you of that.

I think that chests don't protect against strikes from a wand of striking, or casted by elder dark mages/Ischaldirh and Elpuri's attacks. Besides that, a chest can protect from anything else I believe.

It's also worth checking if material's strenght makes a diference. Whenever I get good char with lots of SoCMs I change one big chest to GEF, just to make it lighter and easier to spot if it happens to get 'potred away, and it seems to me like it is helping a little.

In my last win I used a strongbox made of cloth and it didn't get blown by anything. I dont know if elpuri or a mystic frog tried but there's what happened.

Wrong. Explosions can do it too. People tend to get protection against fire though, which helps.

are you saying that fire protection also protects items in your inventory?

I have noticed that things in your inventory dont tend to break unless take dammage from the blast, but Im probably wrong.though.

Speaking of that, does acid resistance protect your equipment as well?
