==General==
Wands are usable items. They are either 'z'apped or 'a'pplied. They are provided with a number of charges. Charges can be replenished with a [[scroll of charging]].
Wands can be used to fire a magical projectile at a monster/item, or used to release its magic onto yourself and its surroundings.
Zapping a wand drains a charge and produces the standard effect. Applying a wand doesen't use a charge, and can be done even when the wand has run out of those. It results in breaking it, providing a wide area effect, but also destroying the wand completely.
