I have a pretty good guy going now I cleared GC 1-3 decent equipment. stats are doing ok, fast learner wor wis/int.

a/l Str 15
Agi14
Dex 14-ish
int 13
wis 16 (thanks kaethos)
end 14?
Per 15

octiron helmet
meteoric steel chain shirt
gaunts of dex +2
belt of levitation
copper warhammer +3 skill 14/13
steel thunder hammer +1 skill 14/11
ring of posion resistance
amulet of ESP
some other crap ring
hardened leather cloak

I have decent swag in my pack, but the game has been wierd with its item distribution. I have seen no rings or cloaks of fire resistance, and didnt find a single chest until GC4, so i was walking on eggshells with all the wands and scrolls in my pack until i found it. I have turox in my pack, but i dont want to wield it until i have fire resistance. the copper haammer isnt that great, but i have been using it since turn 3, so my skill is pretty high.

my question is, i found a room i had to tunnel into and...voila! scroll of wishing in an octiron chest. what should i wish for? the fire resist items seem like a waste of a wish. i have ommel sweat and cerumen, a wand of cloning seems like a good wish, but you only get 1 charge. any advice? I have a good vibe about this character, and want to use all of my assest the best way possible.

thanks in advance for you help.

If you wish for wand of cloning, it dowsn't mean that it does only have 1 charge. I would go for the wand, or maybe vermis or saal'thul.
Right, now you killed me. Happy?

Doesnt matter, Im dead. I had my wand of tele exploded by a kamikazee dwarf and ended up standing next to gugahzmezhsh, who promtly cutm e to shreds. I can count how many af my best charecters have been wasted by that dude. I only had 87 HP's though, I always have the hardest time training End.

on that topic is Armor of great health worth it? ISTR a few years ago the wisdom being that it should be avoided because it causes harder spawns, is this acccurate?

Great Healths spawn tougher monsters, so they are dangerous untill you'r stats and gear are moderately high. After you have access to octiron armors and addy/valpurium weapons you it comes valuable. Notice that it has lower armor value though.

Agreed, it is 1.5 times as heavy and has 2/3 the armor value, as far as i recall. Want more End - eat school food served by Mellis.

Its only use thus far is for a quick, temporary HP boost.

Just to see for myself, I did some armor testing and saying "as far as i recall" was a good idea since my tests don't reflect these exact numbers. Here is my results:

This was done using wizard mode, so I apologize if wizard mode somehow makes this data invalid, (for example, if armor is stronger and lighter than normal in wizard mode, or something of that nature) though as far as I know it should be valid. From these results, armor of great health has 125% of the weight and has 75% of the armor value versus a normal armor. Also, it seems that chain mail has 50% of the weight and somewhere between 62% to 64% of the armor value versus normal armor.

I would also like to apologize for correcting you, even if it was a minor correction as your basic idea of great health providing a worse armor to weight ratio is correct. Most people don't like being corrected, but I do it anyways as I hate seeing people get misled. (Even if those people should be able to question misleading information for themselves.) I hope you understand.
