Just killed enner for the first time. I was screwing around for a while because theo nly offensive wand I had was a wand of striking(used 2 times) and i wasnt sure how many zaps it had left in it. Getyting inpatient I had the hot idea of laying a big mine down at the end of the halway and waiting for enner to run over it and hope i had one zap left in the wand. Oops enners scream exploded it kiulling my poor PC. But wait! my AOLS kicked in and there was enner. despereatly i zapped away with my wand of stiking and 2 zaps later he was no more (first time ever for me).
Oh, by the way, my theory that bottles wont explode in a chest is not accurate.
wandering the level i find the corpse of a former player of mine who had in his chest and AOLS he forgot to put on before taking on enner the last time!
Now Im just trying to get prepared for GC 6 by piling up tons of equipment and polypiling it.
what should I have ready for the next level? I have
Helmet of understainding +1
AOLS
Steel plate mail
+6 Leather cloak of fire resist
Phoenix feather belt of carrying +2
2 boots of strength +1
2 Phoeniex feather guantlets of strength +2
a turox +6 in my right hand
a turox +3 in my left
Atrs 29
lstr 27
dex 12
agi 12
per ?
end 14
int 15
wis 16
lots of wands and potions
plenty of scrolls of enchant armor
2 scrolls of harden material
whats a good strategy for surviving further? I tried fighting the sumo for the belt to see if there are any goodies in the minefield, but i kept losing and got bored.

are you sure? I had my guy killed by a big mine on enner level and he was at full HP's (luckily he was wearing an AOLS) does the extra +1 make that much of a difference?

Remember: allies are your friends, especially Nefas' Mistresses. Two mistresses = no worries about GC6, ever. High agility also helps if you get wounded and need to run away (just get unburdened and keep running in the wilderness for some training).
One of my tricks to get rid of some of the mines in the minefield is also to bring a mistress, leave her there, and wait until she triggers a chain explosion. Heh. Heh.
Ps. What bonus do rings of fire resistance offer? Putting on two seems to make my player totally immune to regular mines. You can always try putting these on, leaving your wands behind, and then pillaging the minefield...

Cloak of Fire Resistance, unenchanted, offers 25 fire resistance. A single ring of fire resistance offers 15. I don't know exactly how enchanting a cloak affects it's fire resistance capabilities; however, at least in the case of mines, I do know that your armor comes into play in preventing the damage.

+5 should work too. Were you carrying anything explosive? maybe the mine set off something else in your pack, such as a wand of fireballs. Then you'd be screwed

with those stats you could easily go back to new attnam and kill sumo for belt of levitation. While your at it Kill Decos and take his mithril plate mail +1, it's way better than you steel plate mail which is slowing you down big time
The best thing you could do is switch to boots of Agi and enchant the fuck out of them. It makes a freaking huge difference to your fighting ability, to the point where Sherarax doesn;t scare me any more.
For GC6 just use invisibilty. the zombies won;t chase you and you won;t get leprosy, dwarves will ignore you, all you have to do is fight mistresses, orcs, and dark knights (all of which have infravision).
The really important thing is telecontrol and ESP/infravision to fight the mystic dark frog on GC7. Eat a floating eye and a bunch of binkdogs or have multiple rings/amulets because the little bugger will teleport them away.

I thought if I just kill the sumo I dont get the belt?
So it is worth the risk to try and take on Decos? Will the explosaions from Turox make the other townspeople mad? I thought about running up to him and just wailing away, but i was afraid that the explosions would hurt the townspeople standing on either side of him, angering the eintire town.
Tests in .50 show that the bigger issue is vandalism. If a Turox explosion is triggered in a building (though possibly only if it hits a wall of said building), it's considered as such and aggravates the entire town (except for Kaethos, strangely enough) against you. The solution is simple; either use a less explosive weapon or fight outside. Magical explosions that hit walls from outside the building do not appear to count for the purposes of pissing off the town. Fighting outside can be done easily enough by simply attacking the encourager first (while the growers are out of explosion range, obviously); doing so will get all the relevant occupiers to pursue you, allowing for safe dispatching.

I tried to "liberate" New Attnam once. I must have done something wrong because the slaves got angry at me too.

Atomic you probably just accidentally killed one of them. I believe you have to kill Richel Decos, his guards, the shopkeeper, the banana grower encourager, and the tourists. Let the elder, sumo, priestess, slaves, palm girls, and ostriches live.

Well as I recalled, I started the fight by attacking (in melee) one of the guards. Or maybe it was Decos himself; I don't remember. Regardless EVERYONE attacked me. I don't know how I could have accidentally killed any of the locals.

You don't need to kill any of the locals. As I mentioned above, vandalism by explosion inside a building will do it too. Also, there is the issue of simply hitting a formerly friendly unit with an explosion blast, even if you don't actually kill with it.

Hmm, I guess I wasn't clear enough. I attacked in melee. As in, no explosions, inside or outside of a building.
