Thought I'd check by and disturb the forums with a question:

Who created the music for IVAN? It's VERY agreeable and I like it a lot. I was thinking of putting it as a wake up alarm
I'd be interested to have a talk with the composer, maybe commission some more songs?

It seems that the MIDI player and music were done by fejoa/warhack/ryfactor and AdrianGin, see here and here.

Hey there known friend Thank you for the answer!

Out of curiosity, under what license are these posted?
Can I use them in commercial material, such as engineering 3D presentations?
It would be an incredible tongue-in-cheeck for those who would know it )

I'd like to get in touch with the creators for some commissions - nothing grand, but I want to support their work and hear more beautiful songs come to life.
My absolute favorite is Dungeon3 - I like it a lot

Also R_K, did I brag about this project I created on bay12?

Dwarf Vision was a real ride.
I still dream for the day I would sit down and contribute to IVAN as well. It would be like the ultimate hobby of mine.
For example, the very first thing I would like doing (maybe someone gets ahead of me) is to do COLOR for text events, just like DF handles it, so it can be easier to read important things.
Or get hyped when you do something right, like hitting or critt-ing an opponent.

As these are all part of the game, they should be under GPL 2 (see here). You can probably PM fejoa here on the forums, he's still around rather often, even given how undead we are right now.

Oh wow, that's pretty cool! I haven't played DF in years, but it's always cool to come back and see all the side projects the community is up to. Also it was nice seeing how well the Steam launch went.

I think we've all slightly ran out of free time to develop IVAN right now, so it would be cool to see a new dev join us.

Color code for text events would be extremely helpful!

Also would like to second your sentiment for the music, it's great

Say, thanks for the compliments about the music. The real Maestro is Adrian Gin - he composed all the midi tracks in the Attnam/ivan repository.
He wrote the midi player engine in C, so it is a largely standalone library, just with some extra integration into IVAN. I think that library is small enough to load onto some small embedded systems to make a basic synthesizer for example. Quite a feat of engineering.
I can PM you his contact details if you want to get in touch with him. He quite likes talking to strangers

Dwarf Vision looks excellent! I wonder if the DF-on-Steam devs would like to integrate your work into the game?
In the meantime we would like to finish the IVAN mood system, which looks like it could be along similar lines to your ideas and experience. There must be some docs lying around somewhere...
