Flaming sword or thunder hammer? I have a whip of thievery in my off hand and am dithering as to what to put in the other. I always have a soft spot in my heart for flaming swords.

Another whip of thievery, naturally.

Thunder hammer is more satisfying. Zap! Its a good way to mine UT4 if you don't have a meteoric steel or better pickaxe. Flaming sword is much more sensible though.

Not sure you can mine the crystal formations with lightning.

If at the start of the game you get Atavus' arcane plate mail and Valpurus' valpurium sword and/or shield and want to switch to neutral gods it is a quick way. Or maybe you need an unbreakable light source for Enner. Or maybe you just want to sell the crystals to buy scrolls at the Library in Attnam because you feel bad about kicking scrolls out of the library for profit.

Which you no longer can do.

To mine crystals with thunder hammer an enemy must be standing on the crystals.
