I know you guys have probably beaten him hundreds of times but I just had to share it!

... I then died dramatically on the next floor...

A step which I still have to take I'm in a love-hate-relationship with the game.

Did you all feel that once you defeated a major opponent (the first plant boss for example) that it was a mental checkpoint that could be beaten fairly easy again?

I feel like each playthrough is a learning experience and that I expand my knowledge each time...

Well done. That's the furthest I've ever gotten legit myself. GC6 is deadly if you're not prepared.

Yes, you definitely have a better idea of what to do the next time. Enner is a piece of cake for me now Ur Khan I can usually take care of eventually. Golgor Dhan I can usually escape from. I still panic whenever I see Sherry though. I've only beaten her once or maybe twice.

Good job, Slizer

Ha! I too, love the feeling of improvement... Every death makes You closer to winning.

Thanks guys

I defeated him again today with a little less difficulty, so I suppose that proves what I'm trying to say. Chaostrom, you were correct about GC6!

How do you guys handle the kamikaze dwarves?! I had two rings of fire resistance so I ended up dying due to a dark rookie knight instead (a long story which involved a polymorph explosion).

Always have a wand of invisibility at hand - it's effective and relatively safe.

Ok, thanks for the information. It's a shame that a well thrown dagger can't trigger them

Dev version needs matches, and the ability to shoot them at the backpacks of kamikaze dwarves, or mines.

I'm surprised there are no bows and arrows in the game (with the ability to light them with Eagle V's matches )

Just a quick question (I thought I might as well keep a log within this thread) ... upon killing a ghost, are they "sucked back to hell" for good?

Far as I know, yes. Also seems like once you open up a bones file it and everything it had is gone for good (unless of course you die on the same level).

Which is confirmed to work up to at least seven times, with seven bodies on the same tile and seven ghosts around that tile. I didn't encounter it the 8th time because I deleted all bones .

Hahaha! Sounds like the game hates you...

BDR, are you saying that there is a manual way to open bones files?

Seven bones on the same level? sounds like winning the lottery to me (unless there is something nasty waiting there when you find it). I have only won once, and I had several good bones finds that helped greatly.

I find success in the game hard without a decent bones find.

I'll clarify the amount of suck with a simple diagram:

g g g
g@G
g g g

Where g is a ghost floating in a wall, @ is me, just coming down the stairs, and G is my good friend Guugzamesh. I got one-hitted by G the first few times, after that my ghosts didn't make it any better.

No, I'm referring to when the game opens up a bones file for you at random when you run down the stairs. Seems like when that happens, the file gets deleted same as a save file does when you load it.

As for multiple bones... it's only as cool as it sounds if you're killing off the ghosts before you die. If you're dying to the ghosts, or before you meet the ghosts to something nastier, then you get something like what Eagle V is showing off. It's also not as cool as it sounds because usually if you die multiple times on the same level it's because you are either fighting a unique and are consistently lacking the power to slay it or it's something ridiculously overpowered that just showed up to kick your ass like a kobold who decided to trade in its balsa spear for an arcanite quarterstaff on UT2 or an apprentice dark mage who pops up and lightnings you to death before you're able to move off the stairs. Jenny's UT3 is probably the only place with an enjoyable multi-bones opportunity because she picks you off with lots of plants that can be fought individually in later games when they're not surrounding you; everybody else is considerably more deadly & mobile, and thus can and will slay the hell out of you without having to wait for the ghosts to get their turn.

About setting off kamikaze dwarves, hitting them from a distance with a wand of fireball does wonders, especially if said dwarf is surrounded by other enemies.
