Water tiles cannot normally be traversed by the player, as the player cannot swim. However, water can still be crossed by anything that has the ability to swim or has the ability to fly. As such, the player can cross water if he can obtain a means of flight or [[polymorph]] into a swimming or flying creature.

Be warned that should a player return to his usual flightless, unable-to-swim state while over a water tile he will die instantly.
