Lanterns are a commonsight in the world of IVAN. They are usually wall-mounted for illuminating the interiors of buildings and rooms - especially important in underground levels. A carried lantern will likely be your primary source of light in the [[Gloomy Caverns]] and for some time after.
While they will never need to be refueled(probably powered by magic), lanterns are rather prone have a major drawback: the fact that [[glass]] isn't all that strong. They can be hardened to breaking as they are made of [[glassIllithium]], clear plastic not having been inventedfor if you so desire. But in the long run a light-bearing crystal stone or weapon is the best solution.
