Hey fellow IVAN players! Named baddies raping your epic character? Well no more! I've found the secret to beating these tough enemies! Is it mines? Is it mustard gas? Is it an army of tamed giant hedgehogs? You're about to find out!

Take a look at your keyboard, now back at me, now back at your keyboard. Sadly, your keyboard isn't me, but your keyboard does have the secret to beating these mean killing machines! See your 's' key? Take a good look at it. Feel the 's' key. Become one with the 's' key. Feeling it? Good, you're well on your way to becoming a master Sherry slayer. Your 's' key is the command to search on IVAN. Using search takes up one turn. "But why should I care? I can just use the '.' key!" Well Johnny, theres a difference between the two! You see, when you use '.' it causes mobs to take their full turn potential. This means before you know it, you're a quadriplegic! That causes some serious issues, and your girlfriend won't be happy! This is where the 's' key comes into play. When you use the 's' key, it causes monsters to use the minimum of what the turn allows them. So they may only take one step for each time you use the 's' key.

Now that you've learned the art of the 's' key, it is time you learn some proper techniques. Heres an example:

You're at one end of a long dark tunnel. You have three items on you; an iron dagger, a bronze axe, and a wand of teleportation. You see at the end of the tunnel a beautiful woman in skin tight black latex with two whips ready to dismember your limbs. You take a good look at your gear and you think to yourself "I'm screwed, I'll just zap her away and hope she doesn't find me before I reach the exit.". That may work, but you decide today is a different day. You don't want to take the chance of missing out on some mistress poontang. Here is where your mastery of the 's' key comes into play. You smash that 's' key until Sherry is right in front of you. Now it is time for some payback with a little hit and run action! Attack her once. Notice something? You got two hits on her without her attacking back! Now what? You zap her away! Its easy! Once she's been teleported, she'll come running back for more, and all you need to do is wait. Once she's returned for your rock hard abs, you 's' key and hit her again! Then zap her away! Just repeat until you run out of wand charges or until she's dead(which she most likely will be).

Brilliant right? In my case, this has never failed. Although, I'm risky and since I usually get a justifier before GC1(I'll explain later) I can attack her a second time without worrying. Note that Shererax has an Amulet of Life-Saving if you didn't know. So don't be fooled when you read "Shererax dies screaming!". Because the next few words will blow you away. "But wait somethingsomething amulet of life-saving breaks and she's aliveorsomething". Just zap her away and repeat!

This is the best way to kill Named Baddies in my opinion. If you have strong enough weapons, you can attack her again and she should die since you got the first hit. Her AoLS will break, and revive her, but this will take up her turn, and she won't be able to retaliate on that turn. Just hit her again and congrats! You've killed Shererax!

This works with most named baddies. Even Petrus. But Izzy will rape your face so fast it'll seem like he's the one using the 's' key.

Hope this helps anyone who needed it!

I've also discovered that an invisible floating eye can't put you to sleep when you attack it. Finally! A use for those wands of invisibility!(If you don't have a cloak/ring of invisibility that is).

The way I get Justifier is pure luck. I hope to the IVAN gods that I get a grenade of mustard gas in UT1-3(GC1-4 if I don't get it in UT). I buy a slave, position him north of a female slave by Petrus, then I throw the grenade and hope it doesn't miss the slave. Then I go eat bananas until Petrus dies. I run back, pick up all of his gear, and break a wand of teleportation to get out. This part is tough though, because you need to kill everything that can see you or you won't be able to exit the city. Picking up all the items on the ground counts as 1 turn as long as you don't exit the item screen until you're done. I find it much funner to leaves Petrus' nut on the ground, because whats the point of getting a Justifier if the game ends shortly after? This trick only works in LIVAN(as far as I know) due to needing mustard gas.

Have fun beating those mean named baddies!

Any questions feel free to ask.

Props for the Old Spice reference

Hmm.. I think your agility and dexterity would have to be insanely high though, to be able to hit her and zap her away before she can hit back. Yes, pressing 's' will let me make the first move, but on her retaliation I usually end up with every limb & head severed off.

The invisible floating eye thing is really neat! It seems that floating eyes are one of the most commonly generated creatures once you get to a certain point, probably to screw over careless, over-confident people. I usually carry a few whips to throw at them but this seems like a nice alternative since I usually have a surplus of invisibility wands

I usually use the hit & run technique with baddies and if you have enough agi, 25 or so, are hasted and you slow Sherarax, you can even take her without teleporting her away. I've done this in a recent game, just run until she is left one square behind, then press 's' and hit her, run and hit. I also noticed that npcs tend to move slower on corners, if you do this tequinche in a closed circuit with corners and you move diagonally when reaching an intersection, they are more likely to be left one step behind, giving you another chance of hitting.

I don't think one single person has ever correctly attributed anything from CVS as not-LIVAN.

Good show, otherwise.
Proudly bringing disaster and mental scarring to Attnam since '05!

Glad you like it! I've had the urge to make an account and post some spur of the moment findings before, but my laziness got the best of me. Now that I'm registered I'll be sure to be posting whatever cool stuff I find.

Hopefully not ALL the cool stuff, particularly where a revival of an old, dead topic will serve just as well.

Of course. I've read every topic in this section(didn't take long) so I'll be sure not to post any repeats.
