You may have accidentally prayed to him too soon once, and pissed him off that way. Anger is really hard to get rid of, and it's separate from piety. Pretty much there's nothing to do but wait a really long time (probably multiple game-days) before praying to him again. I don't even know if that will work. But just sacrificing stuff won't do it.

Ah, I didn't know there was an Anger meter, I thought it just reduced piety and reset the time until you could pray normally again.

Hey everybody, long time no visit. I felt in an IVAN mood today, so I started up a new character, for the first time in a few months.

After an hour or so of playing, I stumbled upon 2 wands of polymorph, and started polymorphing stacks of fir in GC 1. Luckily enough, the room I started mining to bits was an alter to Loricatus, the god I always try my hardest to become champion of.

After a few scrolls of charging and sacrificing all the useless metal objects I got from the polymorphing, I became Loricatus' champion, and he gave me an angel. Now, 2 things were weird from here on;

Firstly, no matter how long I waited and how much I offered him, he was always displeased with me upon praying. Maybe I'm forgetting how something works, but it struck me as odd.

Secondly, when I went to fight the enner beast, who was right down the hall from the staircase, I cloned my angel. They both approached the beast... But refused to strike him. I checked the logs after my eventual death, and neither angel took a swing at him once, and I couldn't zap him without hitting the angels and getting royally screwed. Is this a known thing to happen?

I like being champed by Loricatus early in the game because he seems to be more likely to repair or improve my weapons and armor. This is before I get high enough INT to SoCM things though.

Is his ability to harden weapons affected by anything to do with your character, or the material it's made out of? Because I find early in the game, even with him being very happy, he can't even harden a nymph hair whip.

If you pray to Loricatus while being his champion you get a adamantine thunder hammer... It's the LIVAN version though

I usually get champed by Loricatus when playing, and I've never gotten anything special from him aside from angels, but I play .50, haha.

I was Mellis' champion as well, and noticed nothing unusual. It was really easy as well. I just read 4 of his books, and sacrificed 2 golden stones to him xD

You don't have to have a numpad. I don't have one on this laptop of mine and I play just fine. Use Home, Pg Up, Pg Dn, End.

My Home, Pg Up, Pg Dn, and End keys are placed very inconveniently for me, and not in a pattern where the directions make any sense, at least not to muscle memory. I have been using the Fn numpad when needed, but I like playing IVAN speedily, and going through GC 6 trying to angle myself to hit the kamikaze dwarf with a wand of striking before he blows up my angel, just removes the tension when I have to stop and stare at my keyboard to find the light blue numbers hidden in my letter keys. I would rather it be really fast paced and entertaining.

Which reminds me, today I would've died by a veteran kamikaze dwarf in GC 6, but I prayed to silva, not knowing this would screw up the game. I loaded the auto save and lived. Good ol' glitch saves.

My farthest character ever, on GC 7 (Yes, I'm aware of how sad that is), just died. I had phoenix feather everything, aside from my cloak which was angel hair, Helm of Brilliance +6, Belt of Levitation, dual adamantine daggers +5, 3 angels of Mellis following me, and an amulet of life saving. I was doing great, slowly getting to the staircase, when I guess one of my angels got turned invisible right before I fired a wand of striking at the frog. D'oh. She started kicking my ass, until I was teleported away. I drank some healing liquid, found 2 of my other angels, who killed the invisible one, and they suddenly teleported away. Then, in 2 turns, an invisible mistress came up, whipped my groin to death, I came back, then whipped my head off.

I haven't played in over a month. I think I'll play for a tiny bit right now. It's annoying as hell playing without a numpad, but whatever, I need to drink ommel fluids.

what i hate the most is dying by starvation... it's just so frustrating when you're doing really good and then cant find any food, happened last time while i was in UT 5 in LIVAN, I went to get spider silk armor and ofcourse I have two poison resistance rings... the only problem with that is that you miss out on what´'s going on, I was poisoned, but i didn't loose any hp so i just kept on going forward and then.. *splat* dead. full hp, but empty stomach. Suxxors.

Did you happen to have silva? Because I found out that if she likes you, she'll do the whole earthquake thing *and* fill your stomach.

Maybe there's a "spare" scroll of detect material in the library - buy it and look for iron, Kyle! By GC2, take on Huang Ming Pong and fight for the belt - having more than 13 End OR 20 Dex is just about enough

I wasn't sure if a detect material scroll found active mines, because I searched GC 1 the other day (which almost always has 2-3 active mines for me), but it didn't find any. I got a BoL just a few steps after, so even if my assumption had been right I would've went over them, but it made me think that perhaps the active mines count as being under the ground or something, thus not being detected by the scroll, but from what you're saying, my assumption was wrong. Thanks for clarifying
