I more or less finished a new main quest in the kingdom of Aslona, so now I need help with properly testing it. Please report any bugs, typos, balance issues or how you brok ethe game (JoKe ), so I can fix that.

Notable change was to stop new quests from always requiring the dev to deal with the encrypted scroll, so now you always need to talk to Petrus first to give him the scroll, and then you can choose to talk to other quest givers for new quest. To activate GC, just talk to Petrus again; talk to the necromancer for TX and to Sir Lancelyn for Aslona quest.

Some notes on Aslona that you might or might not want to discover on your own:
SPOILER ALERT. Click here to see text.
* There are multiple dungeons available, so don't be shy to try a different one if you encounter a hard situation/enemy, and come back later.
* Pyramid should probably be done last.
* There are some new, nasty enemies. Don't melee nurphe bats.
* You can sail over worldmap oceans once you accept the Aslona quest. You might need it to find all dungeons.
* For best-scored victory, choose one side of the civil war and give all quest items to that side.
* You can still win even if you anger both the royalists and the rebels.

See NEWS for more details on all changes.

fejoa, could I ask you for a Windows build, please, so it can be properly tested by everyone?

I wanted to finish Aslona for the Christmas holidays, but I'm a few dialogues short. :/

Any tips on how to survive the crystal caves? Do I need any specific armor, weapons or items that would be of any help?

Also invisibility is good, because the crystal golems cannot see invisible and you can just run around them.

If you can pray to Nefas, wait until you have a mistress or two and let them handle the majority of the enemies.

Is that random? I only got hexagonal keys, while all the meteoric steel chests had octagonal locks

Yeah, the key is random. Sometimes the streaks of bad luck are incredible.

I'd vote for Sil, too.

You really had some bad luck there, it's sad to see you go after only getting a glimpse at everything the game has to offer.

Thank you for doing this, though.

If you go to the bottom of Attnamese Catacombs, you might find someone carrying a hexagonal/octagonal key, too.

Should I stick to Infuscor as my god to pray, or wait until I find another god's altar?

Infuscor will give you ESP (which you already have), teleport control, and may set nearby enemies on fire. Seges will heal you if you're injured, cure poison or leprosy, and feed you if you're hungry. It might be better to go with Seges, IMHO. Remember that you should only pray about once every three hours, or she'll get annoyed.

I heard that a whip of thievery is a good weapon. Should I equip it, and how long should I keep it for?

Which is better: My pig iron gauntlets or the pair of leather gauntlets?

Personal preference, but I'd switch the iron gauntlets for the leather ones (to decrease Dex penalty) and dual wield the dagger and the whip. You can keep the shield in case you're taking too much damage, but you'll be fighting many carnivorous plants and dual wielding should let you kill them faster.

What is the roadmap that you guys follow to get a standard freedom ending? I know that some of you guys have posted helpful advice to carry out for some landmarks, but I would highly appreciate the mindset that you guys get into when starting a run.

This might be helpful, if you don't mind spoilers and some reading.

Unfortunately for your limited attempts, I think IVAN is the kind of game where you're expected to sometimes just die in the beginning - you start very fragile and with no options for solving impossible situations, but restarting is quick and easy.

I quite like that the early game is a bit of a toss up - I tend to play rather fast in UT, either surviving or trying again. If I find a good early item or once I get to Attnam, I try to slow down, get some treasure to sell, close the most glaring gaps in my equipment, maybe polypile if I have a wand of polymorph.

Once you get to the GC or TX, you tend to have a selection of options for most situations, so surviving there is more about not screwing up than about praying that the RNG won't screw with you.

is jenny eating things new functionality or has it been there all along?

I didn't think plants used nutrition, maybe that's changed... 0.o

It's been there all along, but because they can't move and only eat stuff on their square, you'll rarely get a chance to see it.

Huh, I thought plants were immune to poison and acid?

They're resistant, not outright immune. I just checked and they will take some poison damage, but you'd probably need to feed Jenny a lot of spiders.

Didn't know Jenny could eat mushrooms, thank you for explaining!

I would have to test that, but I think you can also throw her a spider corpse or somesuch, and she'll happily poison herself.
