Quick editing and saving that edit made my user info bar on the post vanish.
Like so.
Looks like it messed up the formatting a bit too.

EDIT: And again.

Even if a player could put out fires manually, it's probably a good idea to have some chance of them going out on their own. Especially so if you need to expend resources to do it.

I agree with this.
Maybe you could improve your chances of putting the fire out via rapid movement too? Stop-drop-and-roll would be good but that'd mean coding the ability to roll manually without having to lose your limbs.
Equip burning items in hand and hit things with it?

I was just browsing the IRC history and cam accross a link to a reddit discussion.
I see IVAN features on the banner in the top-right corner!

On the same site, under the "Links to popular roguelikes:" I notice the IVAN link sends users to the sourceforge page. Should we get that re-routed to this forum or even the git repo?

Could be a good idea.
Might want to make a post about how development's actually kinda active again too. List off the features etc, though being sure to say it's still very much a work in progress. People will probably be excited about the fire stuff.

I think there's an old post around here that does the math, but dual-wielding is pretty much always a better idea than using a shield, since you can block attacks with weapons anyways.

It's like this:
To begin with, a shield is FAR better at blocking than any weapon because they get a 2x multiplier to their block chance. But you can't attack with a shield.
When you gain skill levels with a weapon, you also become more likely to parry an attack with it.

So shields are good for blocking to begin with, but as you gain skill levels with your weapons they begin to outperform shields. If you have two weapons you are twice as good at blocking attacks, so your chance of blocking an attack while dual wielding is higher than using a single shield once you have enough skill with said weapons.

Some weapons are better at blocking than others too. I wrote this up on the wiki somewhere but I forget where, maybe the weapons page?

Pretty sure I saw one in there at least once.
Normally I'd say that this is a bug that needs fixing but on the other hand this fits IVAN too well.

I'd assume it was meant to be a decoration for Ivan's house or something which never made it to the game itself.
So far as I recall there was no mention of it in the source repository other than in the change log, could be wrong though.

Legifer already detonates you spectacularly so he should be a shoe-in for additional flame effects.

So long as fire/electricity/poison/acid damage is variable, so should resistance be variable (via enchanting). Maybe to a point, since this is IVAN and we don't want people making themselves 100% fireproof, say.
As for cloaks of invisibility I can't really think of a good way to implement "variable invisibility" - maybe reaching certain thresholds should start blocking infravision, ESP etc.

Can we have the quote box show up on the welcome page above the recent forum topics?

Hmm. That is a point I didn't consider at the time.
Stacking resistance items definitely has a solid effect on resistances though, that I know for sure. As for how it works I do not know.
