Fountains

Fountains can have both good and bad effects, it is up to you whether or not they are worth the risk. Drinking water from fountains can save you from starving if you have no food. You can also fill empty bottles or cans with water from fountains by dipping them ('!' command).

Each effect also generates a certain message:

Miscellaneous

• Can summon a Dolphin, a Genie which grants you a Wish, friendly or hostile snakes, Mommo_slime, frogs, or large rats.
• Can spill different types of Rings
• Lycanthropy
• Spawn a mystic dark frog somewhere in the level (only 1/1600 chance)
• Teleport you across the current level or to a different fountain on another level

This water tastes good.

No special effect; just slight satiation.

This water tastes very good.

A random stat has just been raised by one.

This water is contaminated!

A random stat has just been lowered by one.

This water tastes good, but has an odd after taste

(followed by a second message, a typical one for each state) A temporary magic effect, one of the following :

• Slow -
• Haste - "Time slows down to a crawl."
• ESP - "You suddenly feel like being only a tiny part of a great network of intelligent minds."
• Telecontrol - "You feel very controlled."
• Teleportitis - "You feel jumpy."
• Polymorph control -
• Polymorphisis - "An uncomfortable uncertainty of who you really are overwhelms you."
• Invisibility - "You feel somehow transparent."
• Infravision - "You feel your perception being magically altered."
• Gas Immunity - "All smells fade away."
• Levitation - "You rise into the air like a small hot-air balloon."

This water tastes very odd

(followed by a second message, a typical one for each state) A permanent effect, one of the following :

• Slow -
• Haste - "Time slows down to a crawl."
• ESP - "You suddenly feel like being only a tiny part of a great network of intelligent minds."
• Telecontrol - "You feel very controlled."
