I've restarted my PC, and the game booted up fine. Got to the main menu, but shortly after it stopped responding and I had to close it. Afterward, I was back to square one. I launch the game, I get a black screen and it goes in and out from responding to not responding, never getting to the main menu.
Alright, I would like to apologize for the earlier rant. I just downloaded it on a separate computer and it ran instantly. I still have no idea what's going wrong on this machine, but it's obviously on my end.
Alright, I was avoiding doing this out of shame, but I'll be the brainlet to admit, I'm code-illiterate. Is there a good reason why this game doesn't come post-compiled, post-built, whatever you want to call it? What makes this game different to Dwarf Fortress or Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead? Why can't I just download an .exe and play it?
Or am I doing something truly idiotic and there IS such a download? I've gotten the game to work multiple times only for it to later simply break and stop working altogether. I haven't seen a single post talking about this, and I don't know if that's because I'm missing something obvious or if the community is that small. It surely can't hurt to make this wonderful game more accessible to idiots like me.
Apparently, the problem is my my machine's end. I downloaded and ran it on another machine and it ran instantly, but on this PC, it fails to load after launching the .exe. Both machines are running Windows 10, so I have no idea where the problem lies.
