I'm more inclined to believe it's a list of materials of which golems can spawn. As you've found out, you can't make valpurium golems.

The valuprium golem from the golem room drops 1 scroll of golem creation. The golem room is not a LIVAN addition.

I'm just doing some testing now.

Black unicorn corpse:
Eating it gives you every single status in the game.

White unicorn corpse:
Eating it gets rid of any negative status you have except polymorphitis, teleportitis and confused.

Gray unicorn corpse:
Eating it will get rid of every status except teleportitis.

All will make you more chaotic.
