I dunno, mines aren't that common in UT. Throw it so it'll break? Wands are prone to breakage, even if it's made of valpurium (as I happen to know from trying a wizard-themed character in WM, who wielded valpurium wands. They still broke after a few hits.)

It crashed. It was 0.50.
Fatal Error: Unknown Exception Thrown.
What I did was to take a scroll of repair out of my strongbox, read it, and select the broken octiron helm, which was equipped.
When I loaded the auto-save, I tried it again. This time it crashed upon reading the scroll.
Funny. Same procedure. However this time I succeeded in repairing the steel short sword +2.
