If there's a mine in your path, just tunnel into the wall next to it, and step around it. Even if you have fire resistance, why take a chance? your equipment/items might be damaged

I usually just barge in and try to take them down as fast as I can, tough ones first. Acid rain seems like a good trick to use. As slob says, Elec resistance, tele control, and agility are all essential. I think the worst thing about these mages is their ability to teleport your equipment. You lose your +12 Mjolak and then have to spend time searching for it, by the time you find it they've removed your amulet and rings, and while you were busy searching they pounded you with balls of electricity - it really gets frustrating

That's pretty funny. Was this game in Wiz Mode? If not, you did really well and it sucks Petrus got you

What I do is:

Leave one large chest near the stairway. Store extra weapons, bottles of liquids, and unnecessary scrolls and wands in this chest. Carry it with you to each new level, but leave it right at the stairway. Leave another chest full of spoilable food on the previous level, not on the level you are currently exploring.

Then carry a smaller chest. In this one take your essential scrolls and wands (teleport). Use it as a temporary holding place when you find new bottles or spoilables as you explore. Every now and then go back to your large chest and drop these off. Carry healing liquids in cans not bottles. Carry one wand of teleport outside of the small chest, keep the rest inside the chest.

Now you have everything. Healing liquids in a can, an easily accessible wand of teleport, and useful scrolls and wands protected but accessible. Explosives, fragile objects, and objects that you don't want other monsters picking up are stored in a safe location without burdening you unnecessarily.

Good thread idea although I'm not able to recall any good ones at the moment. There have been some times when I've been near starving and forced to eat the only food available - zombies - and then barely made it to the priestess. It's also great when you have a black torso, no arms, and are fleeing for your life - then you remember that stash of healing potions you keep in your chest.

I think he means he was trying to train his stats. So he let the dwarf attack him without caring so that he can raise his endurance or something

Yeah, worst thing for sure is when they polymorph into super-golems. Especially when you're getting used to banana peel and other weak ones, you don't bother to check if that yellow one is valpurium or banana peel.
Hedgehogs aren't bad when you are armed but they so often pop up just when you start it, that's the annoying bit.

What's the random monster for? I would say just stand on the piles and break a wand of tele

Why'd nobody return with Petrus, were they all dead?
