This [[wand]] has an opposite effect than a [[Scroll of Harden Material]], softening the material of affected items in a reverse sequence to hardening (see the [[list of materials]]). Note that while most [[monsters]] are unaffected, [[Golem]]s and a [[player]] with [[artificial limbs]] will have their body parts softened.  You can zap it on personal property, but zapping ''someone else'' with it will anger both them and any allies. It does also not work on walls, doors, staircases, torture implements, signs, coffins, [[altars]] or any furniture besides [[Container|chests]] and [[Container|strong-boxes]]. It '''will''' affect [[lanterns]] that are already mounted on walls.
