They will can steal one of your [[items]] on attack and then fly away. They are fast so it's easy to lose sight of them. The item only items they steal is usually one are ones that shines are shiny - a [[Rings|ring]], [[Wands|wand]], [[Valuables|valuable]] stone or any sparkling metal/or gemstone gear. You can tell if a magpie will target a given item by simply observing it in your inventory and seeing if it sparkles.<br> If the player does not have any shiny items on them, the magpie will simply attack the player.

However, they are weak and easy to kill when cornered - note that the Giant Magpies giant magpies cannot open doors. If you corner it one against a door or chase it into a room and close the door, it won't be able to escape. That is, of course, until another creature opens the door.
