Magpies have a dubious reputation for stealing various things, and this is reflected in IVAN. Giant magpies are their representatives in IVAN; they are greedy birds that can be found almost anywhere.

They will can steal one of your [[items ]] on contact, attack and then fly away. They are fast, so its it's easy to lose sight of them. The item only items they steal is usually one are ones that shines, such as are shiny - a [[Rings|ring]], [[Wands|wand]], [[Valuables|valuable ]] stone, and some metallic/or any sparkling metal or gemstone gear (such as those made from mithril or ruby). You can tell if a magpie will target a given item by simply observing it in your inventory and seeing if it sparkles.<br> If the player does not have any shiny items on them, the magpie will simply attack the player.

However, they are weak and easy to kill when cornered. Also - note that the Giant Magpies giant magpies cannot open doors. If you corner it one against a door, it won't be able to escape. If you or chase it into a room and close the door, the same appliesit won't be able to escape. That is, of course, until another creature opens the door.
