Books come in three colours for the three [[Alignment]]s; yellow for lawful, blue for neutral and red for chaotic. Each time you read any book, your alignment slightly shifts towards the faction of the book. It also make the god a bit friendlier towards you, but your piety for all gods of different alignment will be decreased, in a way similar how prayers work.
Holy books disappear after several a random number of readings, around one to six.

* Reading books and [[scrolls]] also increases your [[wisdom]] and [[intelligence]].
* Reading a holy book while [[Confused]] may waste the book in addition to having a small chance of inflicting a temporary random status on you.
