A ghost is a disembodied soul of a dead creature, either a former adventurer once controlled by a poorly skilled player, or a monster unfortunate enough to bump into an adventurer skilled enough. That basically means all ghosts are derived undead, creatures without given attributes who inherit all their stats from their former living selves.
Of course they are upset, doomed to afterlife in the Hell and longing for companions - and you should be the one to accompany them on their way. Ghosts no longer have physical bodies, they are but barely visible floating silhouettes of ectoplasm, passing through walls with eerie soundlessness. Ghosts naturally cast a dull white light around them, not normally noticed unless you lack a light source.
Below you can find Every item in the game has a material type. The type of material affects the items's statistics of an example ghost, mainly its sturdiness, weight and cost, plus damage done by using the item as weapon. This is a general purpose reference list for materials in IVAN.
Most items except for some artifacts may have their material changed by scrolls of harden material or change material. The way materials harden can be seen in the table below, while changing the material of an item prompts you to select any material you would like. However, you need to have a certain amount of intelligence to successfully transmute an item, seen in the "Int" column of the table. If your intelligence in insufficient, you will be promted to either select other item to harden with a scroll of harden material, or to select different material for a scroll of change material. Also note that you need to have more intelligence in order to change the material directly than only to harden it. For example, it takes 25 Int to harden Arcanite to Mithril, but to change a different material directly into mithril, it takes 30 Int.

This means that offering an object made of this material at the god's ESPaltarwill likely result in a grateful response. Also, Gas Immunityif you are missing a limb, Levitation, Ethereal}}the god may summon a new one for you made of one of their sacred materials.
Each time you enter any level the first time in the given playthrough and you have died here in any previous game, there is a small chance that instead on generating a new level, a bone file will be used. That way you can recover items you had on your old adventurer, but all other features on that level will be saved as well - the monster that had killed you, all physical alterations to the dungeon made by you etc.== Variants ==
