Scrolls are items made of parchment. Reading a scroll will have various effects, as described below. Reading a scroll will raise your [[intelligence]] slightly. More powerful scrolls are less common to find, and raise your intelligence more when you read them successfully. You cannot read scrolls while you are [[confused]], and certain creature types cannot read scrolls either. Since scrolls are made of parchment, they can easily be destroyed by fire (except the Encrypted scroll){{Spoiler}}
===Encrypted Scroll===Scrolls are [[items]] made of [[materials|parchment]] which contain a magical writing. You can release the spell contained in the scroll by reading it, but the scroll will vanish after use.
This Reading scrolls trains your [[intelligence]] and intelligence is a also required to read the scroll that you are given at quickly - the more powerful the beginning of scroll is, the gameless it is common to find, takes longer to read successfully but raise your intelligence more. You must cannot read scrolls while [[Quests|deliverconfused]] this scroll to and certain [[Petrusmonsters]] to continue onto your next mission. This scroll cannot be read or [[Invincible Items|destroyed]]scrolls at all.

Scrolls cannot be harmed by physical damage (e.g. kicking them), but being made of parchment, they are highly flammable. [[Kamikaze Dwarf|Kamikaze Dwarves]] with their explosions are especially dangerous to unprotected scrolls - put your scrolls into any [[Container|chest]] before engaging them.

Note that the [[Wand of Teleportation]] is superior to the scroll in that it takes only one turn to zap while the scroll can take some time to read. On the other hand, you need no limbs to read a scroll, unlike zapping a wand.
