Zeno Wilmer
Zeno comes from a multi-national community that evolved from the first human base on Moon. Even as a very young boy he loved alien animals and he dreamt about exporing new worlds. When he was 12, he heard about alikats, strange alien animals which the Orion Alliance are employing on their scout ships. He has worked very hard for the rest of his youth to obtain a job on such a scout ship, since that career would allow him to realize both his dreams at once.
He has graduated from the Interstellar Academy on Earth at the age of 23. He likes the thrill of discovery; for many years he has been travelling on spaceships to explore lifeforms and riches on new planets, together with his trained alikat, Friff. He loves friendship and peace and is really unhappy about the war, but he knows that it is impossible to stop the war without using some force. That's why he does not mind working in military, and got some training in pistol usage; however, although he usually has his magnetic pistol with him, he would use force only when sure that it is the right thing to do. He is of average strength, height and build, and has blonde hair and dark eyes.
Age: 34
Position: communication/sensor officer on OANS Chimera
Good at:
- using sensors and communication systems
- using light weapons like pistols
- understanding alien lifeforms
- has some knowledge about computers
Gear:
- handheld sensor (aka tricorder, in his locker)
Friff: Alien lifeform similar to a cat in size and shape, except purple, and with suction cups instead of claws. Alikats have special senses, which allow them to discover concentrations of life nad rare materials from the orbit of a planet, or small quantities of them when they are close. These senses are not yet completely understood by the scientists, and some of them have no technological counterparts yet. That's why trained alikats are sometimes employed on Orion Alliance's scout ships (some useful rare materials can be detected by an alikat, but not by technology). Their intelligence and obedience is slightly larger than that of a dog; they can emit high-pitched sounds for attention. Devices exist which can read the mind of an alikat and visualize things detected by it on a map. They are quite hard to kill, because they regenerate wounds and lost body parts (although it takes them several weeks, and they lose memory if their brain is injured).
