Giant magpies are greedy birds that can be found almost anywhere.
They can steal one of your items on attack and then fly away. They are fast so it's easy to lose sight of them. The only items they steal are ones that are shiny - a ring, wand, valuable stone or any sparkling metal or gemstone gear. You can tell if a magpie will target a given item by simply observing it in your inventory and seeing if it sparkles.
If the player does not have any shiny items on them, the magpie will simply attack the player.
However, they are weak and easy to kill when cornered - note that giant magpies cannot open doors. If you corner one against a door or chase it into a room and close the door, it won't be able to escape. That is, of course, until another creature opens the door.
