If I remember rightly hattifatteners don't trigger hostile responses. I've done some testing in the past, though that was years back.

I believe they're carved out of digital suffering.

As far as range goes... How about a throwing skill?

So I randomly had an idea last night, of a Dwarf Fortress Castle, or DC for short, ruled by Supe Soup, the Dwarf of Steel. Those commanders that veteran kamikazes mention? There's three of them, Batt (who will tell you he's working on the Batballoon Mk II, the first one having popped on its maiden voyage), Wander (who uses whips), and Flashy (the fastest dwarf around).

As Attnam is inhabited by hunters, farmers and housewives, DC is inhabited by wrestlers (who have competitions about wrestling pants off), miners (equipped with pickaxes), and retired kamikazes (who have missing limbs).

The town boasts a shop, a tavern run by a gruff barkeep where you can see (dwarf) strip shows, and a forge that basically works as a SoCM so long as you have said raw material and the item you wish to reforge. You want a valpurium flaming sword? Bring your flaming sword and a lump of valpurium. There's also a factory where they manufacture backpacks, mines and grenades, as well as bear traps and lanterns (where do you think they all come from?).

How do you find this place? Well, you need a rare, green crystal lantern (can you make one with SoCM or not?) and take it to Sparky in Attnam, the retired kamikaze dwarf with no legs and balls of steel. He'll tell you where to find it!

I think the check is in place to prevent players from accidentally getting a Chaos ending when they already have both the nut and the shirt required for a High Priest ending, so they are not actually incompatible.

Hm? I thought the requirements were wearing the shirt and being champion of Valpurus. Am I misremembering?

Might be a good idea to put something in-game that lets players know the nut and the shirt are incompatible to avoid this in future.

Who said anything about sexual fluids? Obviously, you get stuff wet with water.

Have you considered reworking unarmed combat? Currently if you have arms you punch, if you don't have arms you kick, if you have neither arms nor legs you bite. (Barring vampire.) If a person wearing Boots of Kicking preferentially kicked in melee, or if the actual attack performed depended on relative skill levels, it might make the boots of kicking more useful.

Another model might be to take a page from Crawl: if the limb is free, you have a (skill)/(skill+X) chance of attacking with the limb whenever you make a normal melee attack. X can be tuned for balance. Allows a skilled boxer who picks up a knife to keep punching between stabs, or someone who is good at kicking to get free kicks once in a while. X could include a constant, modifiers from e.g. encumbrance, and even be reduced by stats. How many free attacks per round of melee are possible would be a different discussion: should a highly skilled boxer, kicker, and biter be able to stab with a sword, punch, kick, and bite all in one round? Etc.

You guys should take that discussion to the unarmed improvement thread.

Incidentally I'm surprised you passed up a comment on the "wet banana". I was thinking the bananas the mistresses sometimes spawn with should sometimes be wet. These forums aren't what they used to be...

As far as that goes, I want to be able to dip food items in liquids. Poisoned school food, healing loaf of bread, wet banana, etc.

I see good ol' Al's linked the forums to them.
