IIRC angels summoned by sacrificing are permanent, and angels summoned by praying are temporary. And so is their stuff.

About bananas: not sure what you mean, but yes. What I do is enter New Attnam full enough, and fill myself with bananas from the shop after each failed try.

I enter when I have one or two limbs of ommel hair or phoenix feather, which is easy to obtain if you know Silva. No skills in unarmed. This is enough to have a chance against him. Not big, you might have to try 10 times, but that's OK IMO.

I think each god (maybe except the bosses) can give things he/she is a patron of (the same items are accepted as sacrifices). So Loricatus gives weapons, Seges gives healing stuff, Sophos gives scrolls IIRC, and so on.

About whipping... have you read the script files? You could see some useful infohere. For example, you can see which creatures are Sadists and which are Masochists. The fact is that some monsters are Sadists and some are Masochists, and Sadists will attack Masochists even if friendly, and Masochists won't retaliate. They also need to have a sadist weapon (i.e. a whip) to do that, so most sadists (e.g. guards and orcs) won't do that, even if they find a masochist. All angels on the Chaos side (starting from Mellis) are sadists, except Nefas, who logically has sadomasochistic angels.
