Yes, helmet of brilliance is useful. But I would rather wait with wishing for it until you have other parts of the set (SoCM, a good wand of cloning/mirroring, scrolls of charging) and only HoB is missing. Of course if you have HoB and miss e.g. SoCM then go for SoCM. (Note that you can actually wish for "socm", the game recognizes this abbreviation.)

I don't think mirroring has a higher number of charges on average, I suppose they both have a random number of charges between 1 and 3 (that's what it is written in script, but it still might be modified by the program). However, mirroring allows 6 mirrored scrolls per charge if used well.

I am not sure how breaking wands of mirroring/cloning works, but my calculations suggest that by wishing for a wand you get 3 charges on average (including breaking), while by wishing for a SoC you get as many charges as your most powerful wand has. So usually you should wish for wands until you have a powerful one, and then a scroll of charging (although the difference is small).

In CVS version it is possible to tame Sherarax that way. That's because in 0.50 there were untamable monsters and she was one of them, and in CVS there is TamingDifficulty, Sherarax is difficult, but even she can't resist resurrection.

I think you used ommel cerumen, cheater?

I suggest phoenix feather for your limbs (although I never tried GEF nor SS for that, however this stuff is stronger so it produces much harder enemies than PF), and then improve your equipment with SoE*/SoCM/SoHM.

Capristo, "Fire resistance is useless" in your post looks strange. I guess you meant ring of fire resistance.

I think chests were used for locked topics. And bananas for announcements.

The last update in the official IVAN CVS is from 2006/09/22. I don't think it was officially named 0.60, I just call it CVS for a lack of better name. IVAN 3D is based on it, and only adds interface options, so balance and gameplay is the same except that valdemar abundance is fixed. I don't have any links, but if somebody does not want IVAN 3D then I can recompile it.

edit: Oh, you meant continuing IVAN development unofficially? I thought you meant the CVS version, which was called 0.60 by lampshade, I think.

I am not sure if nobody really donated to IVAN, or does this line exist for some other reason. link

And I second the above post. I do believe it's the first time someone's given money for the cause

Sourceforge says that there were two donations for IVAN.

Okay, I changed the valdemar spawning rate in my source, but not in the package, sorry. The new version (11) fixes it. Also added the pcre.dll file.

I suggest you to download the newest version (10). (This package contains all you need, you don't need any original IVAN.) Note that it is based on CVS, so it contains some things which were implemented by the devs after 0.50.

Done. You can now download the new version (nothing special, just fixing the valdemar spawning rate, some changes in the sound system, and configurable keys), and read about it on the Wiki. BTW the files are ordered in a weird way on the download page. And I forgot to specify platform.
