Your betrayed pets still can, though!

My last character used a Turox. It was great for the mage room, but even with practical fire immunity it caused problems because it some of its explosions were powerful enough to break wands inside chests.

Silva really likes those crystals.

They're great for a character that's broken the power curve. Mammoths and valpurium golems normally take a lot of hits before dying, but with a chameleon whip they get polymorphed into something with much less health first. Definitely something to avoid before at least the late mid-game, though.

There have been suggestions that the willpower attribute should help, but it doesn't at the moment.
Telecontrol will help when the frog teleports you, spare equipment (and not keeping all your stuff in one chest) will help when it teleports your stuff, and electricity resistance will help when it tries to kill you.

Unoriginal suggestion: werewolf blood acts as a strong acid on contact with characters that have vampirism (not with items or other characters). And maybe vice versa. And maybe eating opposing flesh inflicts poisoning.
And bites that fail to drain should splash a bit of blood around.

The wiki lists (incompletely) the gifts that the gods like to receive. These more or less correspond to the random gifts they give. I think they're more likely to give aligned items rather than unaligned items made of an aligned material. Script/item.dat is the most reliable reference for that kind of info.

There's a time limit before really really nasty enemies start spawning regardless of your danger level. At least in the dungeons.

I think I fixed this for the next version, but this bug is still there in 0.507
I saw the issue closed on github. The surprise here was how early he showed up and how unprepared I was.

Is this related to the Angels leaving orc corpses behind?
I don't know, maybe? I branched the save into wizard mode and spawned angels to kill, but none of them left behind any corpses, orc or otherwise. It's all very mysterious. And Izzy did summon the usual golems - I found them during cleanup.

Edit: I forgot that Izzy also makes hostile clones. I think one of my wolves had polymorphed into an orc general for dietary reasons; probably Izzy cloned it.

Also: do you think that the Enner boy and Enner girl should create undead configurations to make ghosts etc? I spotted one in one of your screen grabs.
I didn't think it was unusual when I saw it (it was actually a polymorphed elite dark knight), but now that you mention it I don't recall seeing undead enner beasts anywhere. I don't see the harm in allowing them. The creepy chomping head animation seems more appropriate to ghosts anyway.

I think this idea overlaps somewhat with the random gifts that most of the gods already give. This has a 5% chance of happening any time your relation is above 100, and creates a random aligned item with value between relation/2 and relation*2, then fixes it if it's broken and adds enchantments.
The result of this in the game is that I already pray to Dulcis repeatedly in the hope of randomly receiving a lyre of charm, I'm often drowning in helmets of attractivity from Mellis, Silva showers me with quarterstaves and the occasional thunder hammer, Loricatus gives me scrolls of repair and the occasional SoCM/SoHM, Atavus gives lamps, scrolls of wishing, and random chests, Cleptia gives me almost as many haste/invis wands as my heart desires (and cloaks), Seges gives me stethoscopes, Sophos gives me scrolls of charging, and Infuscor has occasionally given me wands of cloning!
So the question is less whether all the gods should give gifts as much as whether the current system of gifts is at an appropriate level of reliability, ease of access, and generosity, and whether some item alignments are correct (thunder hammer, cloak of fire resistance, etc.).
