I don't suppose you had some ridiculously buffed equipment?

What counts as "ridiculous"? I found three wands of mirroring and one scroll of charging, which allowed me to boost myself up to a mixture of ommel hair and phoenix feather armor, but none of the boosts were higher than +5 and some were lower.

Point taken about the AoLS, although I think I'm still gonna wear that thing whenever I find it. The ESP amulet couldn't have helped me see the golem anyway.

What factors determine exactly what monsters are being generated? My latest character was doing well after going through Alveradok's natural training regime. He still only had 10 endurance while he was going through the gloomy cave, so when he found an armor of great health +3, he immediately donned it and hardened it to ommel hair, since it was both better than what he had and gave him some much needed HP. As expected, the monsters he met from that point onwards were stronger, but for a while it was manageable. Eventually, with his endurance naturally increasing too, he got to ~98 HP altogether (still all natural), but after starting to meet adamant and octiron golems wandering around GC4-5, he swapped the great health armor for Atavus' arcanite plate mail, hoping this'll help the situation.

However, the monsters generated were no less ferocious even if the character's health plummeted to 54. It later crept back up to the 70-80s naturally, around when I decided to plow through GC6. Donning his cloak of invisibility, the little guy prepared to waltz through the level when the game suddenly decided to arbitrarily kill him. Golgor Dhan and Ur-Khan were generated simultaneously. Despite having 30 perception, the enemies seemed to be able to follow him even when they were outside his massive LOS, so he started teleporting away. Then something invisible attacked and severed his left arm immediately. His arm and its contents were flung about 7 squares away, so he decided to teleport onto it, grab the stuff and then GTFO, but the invisible thing was too fast and lopped off his other arm next, then killed him twice in quick succession.

The highscore indicates that he was killed by Experiment ZQ-29. This is the first time I've ever encountered the golem in a non-WM game, and frankly, I do not understand how with endurance amounting to ~80 HP I get one of the most dangerous bosses of the game, and then two others who are just as impossible to kill. On that subject, I'm not even sure how to deal with these bosses. I've never managed to beat any of the bosses that are stronger than Xinroch. I had quickly figured out that meleeing Ur-Khan and the like doesn't work, and wands don't kill fast enough either.

Hey everyone! Well, during the weekend I've finally managed to achieve a Freedom ending, finishing off Elpuri like a boss and returning it to Petrus. I've turned all my limbs into phoenix feather, so some may not respect the win that much, but considering how many games I've played I'm happy to have a win at all. Now I'm wondering how I can get to the next level and achieve one of the better endings - and possibly do so with only some or no artificial limbs. I have that training guide about training natural limbs, so that's no problem, but there's also the question of what's needed for the wins.

During experiments with the WM, I've noticed there is a huge number of crazy mages beyond that portal on Elpuri's level, zapping me and teleporting away my stuff. How do I deal with them teleporting away all my equipment?

How tough is Oree? Does a character which can just kill Elpuri need to improve a lot still?

For the Avatar of Chaos and High Priest endings, do I need to get the GEF shirt? Also, how should one kill Petrus? One character of mine that accidentally pissed off Attnam (and was otherwise very close to winning, though with Elpuri still standing) had a lot of good stuff on him and also four phoenix feather limbs, but was two-hitted by Inlux. (Couldn't even take out a wand of teleportation and get away.)

Thanks in advance.

According to older topics I've read, the Enner has to be friendly to the town, or else it'll be killed easily. So the only way to have a resurrected Enner in the town this way, according to what I've seen, is to have a kamikaze dwarf in the cathedral attack you, explode a wand of resurrection near you and have the exploding wand resurrect the Enner. If the Enner is friendly to you, you will be attacked, so you can't keep the town friendly either way. In addition, Petrus will take a very long time to die from the Enner screams, and that only if he is very close (else he won't even get hurt).

If I wanted to sci-talk massively, what I'd do is get friendly with the evil gods. Nefas can summon you mistresses every three hours, who can get you up to 20 wisdom. After that, you can chat with angels, who are pretty fast. Note that I haven't done any of this, except for the chatting with angels part (and that only because I got lucky enough with cerumen and holy bananas to get my wisdom up that high in one game), so someone else might have to confirm whether this works.

I have noticed that in my past don't-know-how-many games, SoCMs simply don't appear! Not in the library, or otherwise. Is it possible that an item just doesn't get generated? I can generate it in wizmode, but it doesn't otherwise appear. I remember it being common enough to appear over a few games. Anyone ever noticed this?

Hey everyone!

After many deaths I decided it might be fun to screw around a bit in wizmode and do stuff. However, I'm worried about my bone files. Will wizmode attempts screw up my bone files? And can I protect my bone files by copying out the Bones directory and copying it back after I'm done? Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. One more: I prayed to Mellis once, and he spread bad rumors about me. WTF, is he that severe? Everyone was very angry or extremely angry at me afterwards, even Loricatus and Atavus, to whom I have been praying to regularly beforehand. Also, how can I possibly make up in such a situation? How can I earn the favor of any very angry god?

Hi everyone. I have some questions about, you guessed it, divine interaction.

1. Is praying good or bad for relations?
2. How effective is sacrificing stuff for improving relations?
3. Approx. how much do I need to sacrifice to become the champion of Valpurus or Mortifer? Same for Atavus.
4. If I pray to a god, then will other (similarly aligned) gods also improve their relations to you, or not?
5. How can I tell if I'm eligible to pray to Valpurus or Mortifer?

Thanks for any responses.

I think his corpse was not far from the entry point, without a banana peel. Might have rotted though.

Although this is rather weird. He died from a banana peel? Slipping on it must be deadly, damnit! I wonder if they could eradicate monsters like that? Heh heh. Throw one under Elpuri and he'd explode in a fountain of giblets. Petrus would vanish (bar the left nut) from a peel he slips on. Hell, even floating archangels would slip on banana peels they don't even touch and would go back to their respective gods crying.

Hmm, thanks for the replies. I got Int to 15 then went to NA, only to find Kaethos' corpse lying there for no reason at all. Nobody was hostile, and I didn't do anything since last time I went there and the elder was there. Fuck it! So I just replaced a severed-then-replaced-with-light-crystal left arm with ommel hair, then went down to GC6...

Fuck it again. A kamikaze dwarf exploded on me from some 3-4 squares away while I was peacefully killing zombies and bears. No wands exploded on me and I had a hardened leather cloak of FIRE GODDAMN RESISTANCE +2 and I still got instakilled (after being teleported away, though I had control). Along with the "walk around then die from some random ass mine" deaths, I've had enough. I don't want to know the 10 million other ways I would die before I would win if I tried to win. This game's a goner.
