It does make the game a bit more random. Maybe you get lucky in UT and land a powerful artifact that carries you through the end-game. Maybe you find Turox on GC3 after maining with spears until that point.

Random can be fun, or not. It really depends. I wonder if we have access to some other roguelikes' development documents and can see how this sort of thing was handled for e.g. ADOM, which has had *a lot* of intermediate content plugged in over time.

Another option is simply to make loot drops - especially good loot drops - more rare.

Some related cosmetic suggestions centered around the current time of year... spawned from discussion in chatbox

If a game is started within one week of...
...the Spring Equinox, some patches of grass have flowers.
...the Summer Solstice, a few patches of snow in Attnam are melted and replaced with grass tiles.
...the Fall Equinox, all the trees turn orange.
...the Winter Solstice, Jenny spawns with decorations (lights, tinsel, etc).

I dunno, those are just the best ideas for each even that I could come up with.

isnt petrus bald?

No, he has hair - he might be balding based on the sprite, but there's definitely some grey up there.

I had to to take artistic licence on most of these anyway. Just imagine it's a slightly younger Petrus.

I guess because of the IVAN graphics and having (most) humanoids the same height and relative shape I always pictured him as having good posture

I played with Guugz' pose/posture quite a bit before settling on this one. I felt it was a good action pose for him. I couldn't very well make everyone standing the same way now could I

Per Cap's suggestion, here is a centralized thread for us to use when creating minis of IVAN NPCs using Heroforge (or other resources)! Heroforge is quite easy and free to use, and if you're willing to throw money at them you can get an actual physical mini to paint, if you're into that sort of thing.

And now, a list. I'll try to keep up on the thread and add other people's creations to this post.
