You're going to run into a lot more than that using the latest non-CVS. Use the CVS version and Z's diff patch.

I plan to. :v

Current plans:

Enemies level when they kill another enemy or a friendly creature to the player. Enemies will have three tiers. Standard enemy evolution will be a palette swap and greatly increased abilities (1.8x stats for first level up, 3.6x for second?) as well as an improvement in general abilities (hedgehog spines will do much more damage and have a higher damage chance)

Wands? No wands. Bye, wands! Staves will replace them and still be usable as weapons.

Scrolls will stay, as well as more powerful books which allow multiple casts but vary much more as well as being quite easy to ruin (water, blood, vomit)

Edo and Sengoku era stuff from Japan, mainly RoTK stuff from China. I may dabble in Hindu religion.

Either 8 or 9 will be the base for everything. 8 materials, 8 major missions, 8 major bosses, 8 minor bosses, 8 types of material (gas, metallic, silicate, liquid, etc) where instead of Harden Material it will be Strengthen Material. Gases will get more dangerous, as will liquids.

Three major towns, five minor towns. Three major towns are connected by mines on their outskirts that all enter a unique dungeon with interconnecting levels every 8 floors.

The five minor towns will all have mini-dungeons with their own little plots.

They're using the same ideology, yes. However, it's using a 256-color palette so you can't just assume one more number past dark red is darker red. It could be tan! Or white! Or green! But not pink, nobody likes pink. (okay it can be pink)

Anyone who has contributed at all, whether it be code, sound, graphics, or ideas can demand he release his source and have legal clout behind it. Weird as it sounds, I'm just trying to make sure the IVAN community doesn't end up being the "let's pay money to the GPL foundation for the rest of our lives" foundation.

EDIT: Here's something else to help. I'll happily swear never to touch anything he releases even though I'd have the legal rights to if he does, since apparently he's scared I'll take his code.

I'm aware of Japan's poor metals. I was planning on restructuring the materials systems as such.

Katanas are also quite easy to shatter and this will be reflected.

Bamboo is going to be the most common, easy to use and awesome material.

It's mainly going to remove Attnam, New Attnam, most of the monsters, a good number of the items, replacing all the gods, and removing the Gloomy Cave and UT.

I plan on basing the game on Romance of the Three Kingdoms partially, Shiren the Wanderer mostly, and some other stuff on the side.

Oh, and replacing the materials. Most of IVAN doesn't fit in the setting though.
