Ah, that's kind of how I thought it worked. It just struck me that it'd be kind of awesome to shatter a cheap weapon/armor with enough strength and a hefty enough weapon, or from using a bomb against an enemy.

Posting in another topic made me realize I don't recall whether it's possible to destroy a broken weapon/armor or not. If not, I kind of think breaking/exploding a balsa spear into sticks of wood would be really fitting for IVAN.

You get a chance to burn your foes, which currently only amounts to some extra damage thanks to burning not being implemented as a status effect (hopefully there is a yet at the end, but I'm still waiting on that...) and also get a permanent light source. It also trains long swords, which supports two-handers (which could be fun in combination with releasing an evil genie in Attnam and looting the swords from his body after death). Other than all that, nothing special.

...which is fine as long as you're not planning on using artifact abilities, like for example the life drain ability of Neerc Se'ulb (which was used in Izzy's winning run and is also pretty handy, if stuck on a weapon type I find inconvenient). It's also fine as long as you're not planning on improving the material further (otherwise oops, you're gonna have to burn two scrolls when you could have only used one).

Also, +14? That'll take a shitload of scrolls, way more than I'd believe most people would have a good chance of getting by just finding some and cloning up.

Weapon set: I am partial to Saal'thul and a whip of thievery, mostly because both of those weapon types are accurate and thus avoid death by failing at hitting enemies in the early game, and also because both invisibility and weapon-stealing are fairly good attributes (by this I also mean that I like it when I find a short sword and a whip/belt because then I can train these types and wish up the artifacts later).

Chest armor: When it's only a few extra points of armor, like a nymph hair armor vs. a copper chain mail, I'll take the lighter armor. When it's more? Keep the heavier armor nearby, maybe, but I wouldn't wear it in general until I expected to face something nasty (or met it and ran away).

Wishes: While I still played IVAN regularly I wished for levitation belts. You can win one, but I always felt like it was too much of a pain to drum up the needed stats to beat Huang the legit as well as trap his limbs off. Alvers' guide makes it sound a little more plausible/tolerable in some ways than I'd thought though, so if I were to try playing again I might just follow his guide and get it normally. I'd also recommend wishing for artifacts and equipment/items that fill holes in what you currently have (like, say you can't find an amulet of ESP - wish for it because it's pretty handy). Wands and scrolls may be what other people get, but I like things that will last and be continuously useful rather than useful for a limited time.

Limbs: Legs are undoubtedly going to be more helpful since that will increase your speed and ability to lug shit around. Arms will help with hitting things and capacity to wield heavy weapons, but you don't need to dual-wield halberds or two-handed swords to beat the shit out of things (and it won't matter if you can if you can't fight fast enough).

Equipment or limbs: Equipment, because a different material of limb is not going to be strictly more durable than another, while an armor given a better material is going to be directly more powerful and protective than one of a lesser material.

Cloning/mirroring: Clone/mirror the consumables. Bottles of ommel tears and scrolls of enchant armor/weapon are good targets for this, as well as other items you aren't finding a lot of. Note that if you only have mirroring that you'll want to spend that on something that you will have a good use for right away, like scrolls of enchant armor/weapon, because if you tried to mirror a wand or scroll you weren't going to use right away it'd just disappear from your inventory eventually.

The random stats aren't bad, just a bit undocumented. That said, tossing your work isn't what I'd suggest - it would be very nice to have the option to pick random/unrandom starts as a config option.

4zb4, his question was what to do if he wound up with 4 amethyst limbs and not whether amethyst limbs were good or not.

Answer: Don't end up with 4 amethyst limbs, seriously. Heal yourself before your human limbs get lopped off, go to the healer in NA to replace your lost limbs, or at least pray to gods who will get you on the right material track. Prevention is the best medicine here. If you are stuck with them on a decent game, though? You're pretty screwed because a) no, there is no better safe option for changing your limbs than SoCM (or HM if you want to try emulating the UT4 golems) and b) there is no safe way to get your limbs destroyed, even if they are crazy weak (amethyst definitely doesn't fit this category), since there is no way to ensure your head is not harmed (mines, enemies, and I think even bear traps can lop it), nor that you won't simply take too much of a beating while waiting for your limbs to be targeted to keep going. If you have an amulet of lifesaving, you could try blowing yourself up with a mine or something but there are no guarantees that you won't fuck that up too (since if your head is lopped before you die, the amulet will fall off and fail to save your life).

That said, if you get any of your artificial limbs hacked off and drink some healing fluid or troll blood, you can get your human limbs back (max of one or two back per bottle, but loads better than none).

Re artificial limbs: Check this page, it details who is associated with what as far as limb materials go (notable exceptions are Valpurus and Mortifer - do not pray to them expecting something as trifling as granting you a new limb for they shall smite your head off if you do). The best way to handle a subpar limb is to either spend a scroll of harden material to make it better, a scroll of change material to bring it up to par from weaksauce (in the event hardening won't work for your intended purposes), or to skip hoping the "right" material is gained from praying and try to keep your limbs whenever possible until such time as you can get what you want through pure braininess. SoCM is probably the best to go from human to awesome artificial because it is a) reliable and b) a drastic enough use of resources that you'll hopefully have thought it through before making use of it, with SoHM coming in second as a substitute (nice because it requires 5 int less than trying to use an SoCM directly and also is slightly more plentiful) and praying coming in dead last because as the link should make clear gods are associated with multiple materials and so quality is not guaranteed.

As for your other question? It's really the bottom stack which is the mirror. The top stack is the real one.

Boss itself is really weak; it can't polymorph into more dangerous critters like the 1x1 mushrooms can and AIR doesn't have much power in it. The other mushrooms are what will kill you if you die there.

It is, but the LIVAN boss version basically is like genetrix in that it spawns in magical mushrooms every so often (on top of what the magical mushrooms might spawn in). Unlike genetrix I'm not sure the spawns have to be around you, which means they can instead freely wander the level and basically guarantee the lethal chaos you can experience in .50 by leaving a magical mushroom alone long enough (but even if they do have to spawn next to you when spawned in, there are I believe 12 or so magical mushrooms spawned next to it, which is plenty for the scenario I'm describing).
